Qualifications:
Education and Formal Training:
Associate Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Engineering or related field preferred. Equivalent military training or significant industry work experience accepted.
Work Experience:
Candidates who have successfully completed hospital-based internships as part of their education are preferred.
Certification:
- CBET – ACI Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician certification is not for the position of BMET. Incumbents are strongly encouraged to pursue this certification
- Other industry certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Net+, or Security+ are encouraged.
Additional Skills:
- Basic troubleshooting skills, including the use of service manuals, electronic documentation, test equipment, and diagnostic software
- Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Computer skills including use of email, spreadsheets, word processing, and computerized maintenance management systems and reporting
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to quickly adjust to meet customer needs, which may involve working on unassigned equipment and assisting other technicians
