IHI Power Service Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for a Senior. O&M Technician at the Rainer plant in Moses Lake, WA. The hourly range for the position is $50.00 - $54.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Senior Operations & Maintenance Technician who has experience with jet fuel production and decarbonization processes, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in industrial operations and mechanical systems and a passion for advancing sustainable technologies.
Job Functions
Operations:
- Monitor, operate, and maintain equipment used in the production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).
- Execute startup, shutdown, and routine operational procedures for jet fuel synthesis systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Maintenance & Repairs:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Conduct routine inspections and calibration of machinery to meet operational standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for equipment upgrades and modifications.
- Familiarity with decarbonization technologies, synthetic fuel production, and jet fuel processes.
- Understanding of chemical processing equipment, including reactors, separators, and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Hands-on experience with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and control systems.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow strict safety protocols and environmental regulations to ensure compliance with local and international standards.
- Participate in safety drills, hazard assessments, and emergency response procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of operating logs, maintenance activities, safety inspections, and compliance records.
Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to enhance production efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
- Support the implementation of process improvements and innovative decarbonization techniques.
- Provide feedback and technical insights to engineering teams to refine operations.
- Demonstrate knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Hands-on experience with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and control systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, and operations.
- Train and mentor junior technicians in safe and efficient practices.
Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Military or related field a plus
- Technical certifications (e.g., OSHA, NCCER, or HAZWOPER) are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in operations or maintenance within the energy, aviation, or fuel production sectors.
- Experience with decarbonization technologies, synthetic fuels, or chemical processing is highly preferred.

- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of industrial plant equipment and machinery.
- Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
- Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools; Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other technical reporting tools.
- Aptitude for reading and interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and documentation.
- Skilled in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and operational data systems.
- Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, air masks, hearing protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
- Work with hazardous materials may be required.
- Although predominately indoors, may include working outdoors.
- All employees must observe the facilities’ security requirements.
- Must be able to work in elevated areas, and confined spaces.
