Position Summary:
The Network Administrator III at Bridgehead IT is a senior-level position focused on ensuring our clients’ network infrastructures are secure, reliable, and optimized for top performance. This role involves advanced configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex network systems, utilizing the latest technologies to support stability and scalability in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network administration, a proactive approach to resolving network issues, and the skills to implement high-impact solutions. As a Network Administrator III, you’ll play a crucial role in safeguarding client networks and supporting their growth, making a direct impact in a dynamic, client-focused setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and configure network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points) to ensure seamless performance and security.
- Proactively monitor network performance, identifying and addressing potential issues to minimize downtime.
- Implement robust security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems, to safeguard client networks.
- Configure and optimize advanced routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) to maximize connectivity across client networks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to design, expand, and upgrade networks in line with client needs and best practices.
- Perform firmware and software updates to ensure device security, compatibility, and peak performance.
- Maintain detailed network documentation, keeping configurations, changes, and procedures accurate and up to date.
- Conduct network assessments, providing recommendations to enhance performance, scalability, and security.
- Mentor junior administrators, promoting knowledge-sharing and skills development.
- Support disaster recovery initiatives by ensuring network resilience and redundancy.
- Handle network-related service requests in a ticketing system, managing issues swiftly and effectively.
- Stay on the cutting edge of network technology trends and best practices.
- Provide critical after-hours support through on-call rotations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-7 years of network administration experience in an enterprise setting.
- Strong knowledge of protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and expertise with network monitoring tools.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, SonicWALL, Aruba, or similar network devices.
- Advanced skills in firewall configuration, VPN management, and network security.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues with ease.
- Preferred certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
- Experience with ticketing systems for efficient service request management.
- Exceptional communication skills and a client-centered approach to support.
