About the Role:
The Ovative Group’s Data and Software Engineer role on the Strategic Projects team is an opportunity to take your next career step at a fast-growing company that has the highest standards for talent, fun, and client success. The Strategic Projects team supports direct consultative work for clients and acts as the internal proving ground for pre-product ideas. The ideal candidate demonstrates great critical thinking, sophisticated understanding of the data engineering and science landscape, familiarity with the marketing ecosystem and phenomenal communication skills. They are excited to play a pivotal role in helping Ovative continue our journey towards measuring and optimizing against the true enterprise impact of marketing dollars, and ultimately unlocking powerful business results for our clients.
In this role, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining data solutions that are generalizable, repeatable and scalable. You will work under the guidance of experienced team of data scientists and engineers and closely collaborate with business stakeholders throughout the entire data lifecycle, from ingestion to crafting processed data sets for reporting, analytical and modeling use. The team navigates ambiguity, asks lots of questions, learns and executes quickly in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities of a Data and Software Engineer - Strategic Projects:
- Technical contributor in a high-performance data engineering, science & advanced analytics team working on ad hoc projects or seasoned products, responsible for owning your tasks and bringing in the executional excellence for them
- Drive value against multiple verticals by assisting in designing, developing, testing, and deploying data solutions that align with business and technical requirements related to, but not constrained to, Marketing Mix Models, Attribution, Customer Value and Segmentation, Forecasting, and Causal Inference as related to testing
- Lead or assist with discovery of the state of client’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or advertising data to enable marketing measurement related reporting, analytics or modeling
- Work with data scientists on data modeling and feature engineering for Machine and Statistical Learning Models
- Identify opportunities for automation with a focus on the timely and quality execution in client projects
- Collaborate with your team to support translating and documenting business goals and user requirements into detailed, actionable technical requirements
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of robust, impactful strategic measurement capabilities for the company
- Provide technical assistance to teammates as needed, and grow collective team expertise
- Follow established software, security and product engineering best practices, including code quality, documentation, deployment, and testing
- Explore new technologies and tools under guidance of security, teams to enhance marketing data solutions
- Troubleshoot data quality or completeness issues with support from senior team members as needed
Requirements:
- 3+ years of relevant data engineering development experience
- Proficient working with ETL/ELT tooling for large data sets (e.g., Airbyte)
- Proficient utilizing SQL, Python, and command line
Preferred:
- Familiarity with one or more of these: cloud-based platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS, or Azure), code versioning tools like GitHub, data pipeline tools (e.g. dbt, Dagster, or Airflow), data warehouses and big data tools (e.g. BigQuery and Databricks)
- Familiarity with agile product and project management tools like JIRA and Confluence
- Experience working with APIs for data retrieval and/or a tool like Airbyte
- Experience creating data/table architecture
- Experience implementing QA processes and QA automation
- Experience integrating data models within software
- Experience working with marketing, analytics and customer data
Pay Transparency
At Ovative, we offer a transparent view into three core components of your total compensation package: Base Salary, Annual Bonus, and Benefits. The salary range for this position below is inclusive of an annual bonus.â¯Actual offers are made with consideration for relevant experience and anticipated impact. Additional benefits information is provided below.
For our Sr. Analyst positions, our compensation ranges from $62,000 to $93,000, which is inclusive of a 15% bonus.
