The District:
Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) is a progressive, values-driven agency, with an international reputation for its leading-edge financial management practices, water recycling program, water use efficiency practices, water banking, urban runoff treatment, and energy generation and storage. Established in 1961 as a California Water District under the provisions of the California Water Code, IRWD is an independent special district serving central Orange County. IRWD provides high-quality drinking water, reliable sewage collection and treatment, ground-breaking recycled water programs, and environmentally sound urban runoff treatment to its customers. As an independent, not-for-profit public agency, IRWD is governed by a publicly elected five-member Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for the District's policies and decision-making. The PositionUnder general supervision, responsible for the installation, administration and support of business network infrastructure, cybersecurity, telephone and backup systems.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols and infrastructure, hands-on experience with configuring and setting up new servers, patch management, supporting hyper converged system, ability to identify and solve problems, evaluate new hardware and software improvement network performance and the ability to communicate with non-technical users to understand their needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform hardware support for network equipment, servers, backup systems and hybrid computing environments.
- Perform software and operating system support for network equipment, servers, backup systems, hybrid computing environments and cloud services.
- Perform scheduling and installation of network equipment, servers, backup systems, hybrid computing environments, cloud services and related software.
- Perform operating system level analysis and programming as required.
- Perform troubleshooting for of network equipment, servers, backup systems, hybrid computing environments, cloud services and related software as needed.
- Provide monitoring of business network infrastructure.
- Provide user assistance as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Comply with District work-related safety practices and attend relevant safety training.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
A combination of education and experience equivalent to:
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field required.
Experience:
Three (3) years experience in information systems, enterprise networks and associated software products required.
Desirable:
Experience in VMware and Cisco administration and installation, Microsoft Windows Server, M365, firewall, enterprise backup, and Azure Active Directory system administration and installation, and SAN administration or hybrid computing installation.
Licenses and Certifications:A valid Class ‘C’ California Driver’s License.
Cisco CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), VMware VCP (VMware Certified Professional), and/or Microsoft MSCE (Microsoft System Certified Engineer) desired.

Mathematical AbilityAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and calculate percentages, decimals, and fractions.
Technology Ability Proficient with the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Keyboarding abilities sufficient to perform the job.
Judgment and Situational Reasoning AbilityAbility to use good personal judgment and discretion in performing all job functions.
Physical RequirementsRegularly required to sit, bend, stoop and stand. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
Environmental AdaptabilityNoise level is generally equivalent to typical office environment. Ability to work in an environment, which may expose employee to hazardous materials, and environment. Occasional visits to construction sites where noise level may be higher than typical office environment.
