Scope of the Role
As a Software Engineer Level 2 your focus will be to apply the principles of engineering to software development. This role will focus on designing, developing, and deploying end-user applications that meet user needs. Based on your experience, you will apply your technical expertise to lead and support other engineering team members to ensure that project timelines are being met. You will work cross functional with other departments to conceptualize and determine integration requirements.
Reporting Structure
The Software Engineer Level 2 is a member of the IT Team and reports to the Vice President of Technology & Operations. This position also partners with cross-functional team members across the organization.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other engineers on code reviews, infrastructure, and adhere to software development methodologies.
- Participates in the full Agile cycle engagements, including meetings, iterative development, and design sessions.
- Design UI mockups and develop existing or future projects’ UI with the development team.
- Work with users to develop an effective UAT for existing or future projects.
- Provide company management periodic updates of each project’s timeline status and any problem areas.
- Implement and maintain modern microservices for existing or future projects using Java, SpringBoot, and Kubernetes.
- Integrate RESTful web services utilizing JSON/XML.
- Design, develop, deploy and maintain integration processes between applications across cloud and on-premises using Dell Boomi AtomSphere platform.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and support existing Integrations.
- Create documentation for all stages of design and development processes.
- Collaborate with various cross functional teams to define and determine
- Set technical direction impacting the engineering team to ensure project timelines are being met.
- Play a leading role in delivering and executing project requirements that align with the users of the organization
- Manage the development steam with little to no supervision by using your independent judgement
- Leads or participates in significant special projects as required.
- Acts as a mentor, guide, and resources for employees performing similar functions at a lower level of experience and expertise
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Required Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing large, well-tested applications
- 2+ years of experience leading projects with multiple engineers to deliver significant impact to the organization
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field
- Java, JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS knowledge
- Git command line or Git Desktop knowledge
- Angular, React.js, Node.js knowledge
- Microsoft SQL or equivalent database knowledge
- Slack, JIRA, Confluence, Lucidcharts knowledge
- Must be a fast learner and available to fix issues in a 24/7 ecommerce environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite
