Description
NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, administer, manage, and deploy cloud services to support our platform product as well as custom solutions. The Senior DevOps Engineer willprovide leadership to the DevOps team in providing world class service to the different project teams around the globe.The candidate must be self-motivated with exceptional planning, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Architect Amazon and Azure cloud infrastructure for development, test, and production products for data processing and application development
- Ensure secure and highly available build/test/deploy processes for IT infrastructure
- Evaluate current cloud infrastructure and recommend improvements to security, scalability, and cost
- Design and implement backup, security, and disaster recovery strategies
- Administer servers by installing security patches, scripting database backup processes, and monitoring performance
- Work closely with IT to support best practices related to security, application optimization, business processes, and issue resolutions
- Identify and develop process improvements and efficiencies
- Apply software development lifecycle methodology to ensure quality applications are designed, developed and delivered
- Attend standup meetings and report progress to team
Minimum Qualifications
- Expert understanding of common automation tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins
- Advanced experience, with ability to obtain architect level certification, deploying and administering solutions in Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure
- Demonstratable experience with Docker
- Multiple years of experience administering Linux and Windows servers
- Experience in scripting languages, particularly Python and Bash
- Good communication skills and able to work in a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and perform work on time
- Works well with geographically dispersed teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Elastic Security, Grafana, and Logstash
- Understanding of PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB database configuration and administration
- Experience working in an agile development team environment using the scrum framework
- Experience using JIRA, Confluence, or similar issue tracking software
- Understanding of spatial domain (vector, imagery and LiDAR) and spatial data
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, engineering or related field
