About the role:
An ongoing opportunity has arisen within Building
Commission NSW’s Electrical Compliance team for people who want to be involved
with the raising compliance and safety standards of electrical work and
installations in NSW.
This position is primarily responsible
for inspections, investigations and education within the electrical
industry. You will be required to
undertake proactive targeted operations and education campaigns to ensure and
enhance compliance with the Electrical and Gas (Consumer Safety) Act 2017 and
Regulation 2018 and Home Building Act 1989 and Regulation.
As a Senior Compliance
Officer, you will:
- Provide specialist regulatory knowledge and skills within the electrical industry and be focused on the compliance and regulation of electrical installations and electrical work
- Have knowledge of all types of electrical installations and electrical work
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of compliance programs
- Assist in the preparation and providing of presentations to management, other departments and stakeholders
To be
successful in this role you will have:
- Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or preparedness to undertake an identical or similar employer-sponsored program.
- Expert knowledge of the Wiring rules and Service Installations Rules and the ability to apply this knowledge to complex inspections and investigations
- A desire to see improvement of electrical compliance within the electrical industry
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation in a compliance framework
- Ability to work within a team of itinerant inspectors to achieve positive regulatory outcomes
- Current NSW Driver's licence and willing to travel and work throughout NSW
- Current NSW Qualified Supervisor – Electrical license, equivalent or possess the required qualifications to obtain relevant licence
- Work safely at heights training or preparedness to undertake the required training
The
following skills are desirable but not essential
- Experience in the installation of all types of renewable energy systems
- Demonstrated ability to prepare briefs, reports and deliver education programs
- Experience in conducting audit electrical inspections
- Experience in undertaking investigations and required compliance actions
- Experience in giving effective presentations
Salary Clerk Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting
at $120,859 base plus superannuation
