Location: This role could be based in either our Wythall or Edinburgh or London offices with time spent working in the office and at home (Hybrid).

Salary and benefits: £54,300 - £86,900 dependant on experience plus 16% bonus up to 32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more

We have an incredible opportunity to join the Phoenix Group as a as a Market Risk Actuary in our Regulatory Capital team

The role  

This is an opportunity to shape industry leading expertise in market risk, working closely with Asset Management and the wider Capital Management team to deliver ‘best in class’ internal model market risk methodologies. As the Market risk Actuary for the UK’s largest Pensions and Savings provider, you will be pushing forward industry best practice and will be leading development in this complex, challenging and highly evolving area.

The key responsibilities include -

Annual refresh of market risk stress and base assumptions.
Periodic review of internal model calibration methodologies.
Becoming a subject matter expert on market risk internal model components to support wider business objectives.
Adhering to the Phoenix Internal Model Governance process.
Presenting the proposed changes in methodology to committees/board.
Driving the improvement of existing process/tools.
Supporting the juniors as a subject matter expert.

What are we looking for?

Qualified Life Actuary, preferably with some experience in risk modelling (not mandatory).
Good understanding of different market risks.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and senior stakeholders from different disciplines right across the business.
Ability to prioritise and challenge.
Have a proactive attitude and a good technical base.
