Title: Systems Administrator

Location: 100% Remote (U.S. Based) - 5% travel possible

Salary: 80-120k DOE

A prominent organization is seeking an experienced Sr Systems Administrator to support and enhance its IT infrastructure. This role focuses on managing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability while driving infrastructure improvements and supporting compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities

Systems Administration & Optimization (60%)

Design, implement, and manage Azure and Microsoft 365 systems to support business needs and enhance operational efficiency.
Administer identity and access controls using Entra ID (Azure AD), including configuring secure authentication methods and governance policies.
Oversee licensing and resource allocation for Azure and M365 to optimize costs and maintain compliance.

Security & Compliance (15%)

Manage and configure advanced security solutions, including Microsoft Defender and Purview, to safeguard corporate data.
Lead proactive incident response efforts, enforce security policies, and address vulnerabilities using industry best practices.
Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure adherence to data protection regulations through policies such as retention and eDiscovery.

Continuous Improvement & Infrastructure Enhancements (15%)

Research and recommend new Azure and Microsoft 365 features that support business objectives.
Develop automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline administrative tasks and system processes.
Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Documentation & Reporting (10%)

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on system configurations, policies, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Generate technical and business-friendly reports on system performance, incidents, and project updates.
Ensure accurate time tracking and task reporting using internal tools.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
8+ years of IT experience with a focus on system administration and infrastructure management.
Advanced knowledge of Azure services (IaaS, Virtual Desktop, File Storage) and M365 security/compliance tools (Defender, Purview).
Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform) and Azure AD.
Solid understanding of IT security principles, conditional access policies, and identity protection solutions.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experience leveraging AI and emerging technologies for workflow optimization is a plus.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and function effectively under deadlines.
