Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking an
Infrastructure Engineer with a background in the storage space as well as virtual machines for our 2nd Shift team (2pm - 11 pm CST). The preferred candidate will have knowledge and experience with scripting, storage, and backup support as well as the ability to troubleshoot, complete performance monitoring and optimization and be involved with capacity and continuity planning on the virtual side.
The candidate will also supervise and develop multi-platform converged enterprise engineering solutions targeted to meet existing, enhanced, and new platform solutions for business and infrastructure services on the virtual machine side. This person will also be responsible for understanding, supporting, and increasing efficiency via automation in the storage and backup operations environment.
In addition they will support Storage/Backup change and request activity, incident and problem management, and critical system monitoring to meet the needs of our customers. Their focus of the virtual machine side will entail the engineering and support of all the virtualized and physical servers across multiple data centers, and additionally administer the operating systems and core applications while ensuring the environment is managed to meet best practice standards and agreed service availability (SLA’s).
Responsibilities Include:
- Support the troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution of Vmware, Storage, and Backup systems and components
- Assist with planning, execution, and control of project-relate tasks and activities.
- Responsible for host and vCenter patching/upgrades.
- Responsible for VM cluster maintenance activities (migrations, maintenance mode, etc), ensure cluster health.
- Participate in automation of various tasks and procedures
- Investigate system events and solutions for the purposes of maintaining or improving the delivery of services
- Function as a SME for less experienced team members and provide internal training / documentation
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- Three to five years of relevant experience
This is a 2nd Shift position, the employee will be working from 2 pm - 11 pm Central Time Monday through Friday.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Knowledge and working experience with Virtual Infrastructure (VMWare, vSAN, ESXi, vRealize Operations, SRM, NST-X, vRops)
- Hardware infrastructure support (CISCO (UCSB), Dell (OME))
- Storage experience with SAN and NAS (Powermax, SRDF, Pure, Brocade Switches, NetApp, Data Domain, ECS, Isilon)
- Working experience with image level Backup support (Cohesity)
- Hardware infrastructure support
- Hands on experience supporting cloud operations in a large production environment, Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS)
- Automation tools (Ansible, Python, AWX, PowerCLI, PowerShell, Linux Shell, etc)
- Working knowledge of ServiceNow reporting
- Data analytics, metrics and reporting utilizing ServiceNow dashboarding
- Experience building Splunk dashboards and running queries
- IT standards, procedures, policy
- Data Network
- Commitment required to work in a complex 24/7 environment (On call basis)
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00 - $136,400.00
