Job Description:
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer serves as a technical expert and coordinator for cloud infrastructure platforms, network equipment, and associated domains. This role involves designing, evaluating, and implementing cloud-based solutions in AWS and Azure to meet departmental requirements. The engineer collaborates with IT and Infrastructure Teams, as well as Systems and Network Engineering, to deliver reliable and secure cloud services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced engineering support for AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Design and demonstrate cloud systems and solutions tailored to organizational needs.
- Assess and identify requirements for cloud infrastructure products and systems.
- Lead new cloud implementations, system upgrades, and hardware/software installations.
- Resolve issues with vendors during cloud migrations or installations.
- Manage AWS and Azure services while documenting processes and creating implementation guides.
- Handle advanced Active Directory management and design.
- Train IT staff on new or updated systems and support daily operations, including onboarding and service desk assistance.
- Lead cloud projects and preventive maintenance initiatives.
- Design secure, scalable cloud-based infrastructure solutions for data and applications.
- Evaluate and recommend tools to enhance team productivity and customer service.
- Contribute to annual budgeting by identifying infrastructure requirements.
Maintenance & Performance:
- Monitor and maintain cloud systems and networks for health, security, and performance.
- Install, upgrade, and patch network hardware and software.
- Apply security updates and service packs as necessary.
- Continuously review and improve Infrastructure Team processes and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience in a cloud-based IT environment.
- Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure architecture, including services like EC2, EKS, S3, and Azure Virtual Machines.
- Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI).
- Expertise in cloud security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, Azure, VMware).
