Position Description
Modern Family Law, a boutique law firm which specializes in Family Law, is looking for a compassionate, innovative, and respected Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to support our dynamic team of professionals in providing superior service to our clients. Modern Family Law offers dynamic compensation, a wide array of benefit selections, and a culture built on family. This is a fully REMOTE position with the ideal candidate being located in Colorado.
To be successful in this role, the incumbent in this position would be expected to do the following:
- Develop and implement strategic technology plans that align with the company’s business objectives.
- Lead and mentor the technology team, fostering an environment of innovation and accountability.
- Oversee the architecture and implementation of all technical systems to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Manage the company’s technical resources, including the Salesforce platform, ensuring seamless integration and efficient utilization.
- When appropriate, recruit and guide a Director of Security and Compliance to maintain high standards for data security and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Drive the selection and deployment of advanced technology solutions to improve internal operations and customer satisfaction.
- Establish policies and procedures that promote company culture and vision through proper use of technology.
- Work closely with other senior executives to propose new and innovative technology solutions that can enhance operational efficiencies and lead to better performance, including automating internal processes where able using existing technology tools.
- Stay abreast of trends in the tech world and adapt plans as necessary to keep the company at the forefront of technological advancements.
- Manage technology budgets and time frames to ensure project success and ROI.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
- As our culture is remote-first, all employees are expected to have the capability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and to set up a workstation that supports productive work during normal business hours.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field or 10 years of equivalent experience in a similar role, preferably in a professional services organization.
- Proven experience as a CTO or similar leadership role in a technology environment, preferably with exposure to Salesforce platforms as well as leading our automation efforts at the Firm.
- Background in designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation.
- In-depth understanding of data analysis, enterprise-grade architecture, and cloud-based systems.
- Solid understanding of budgeting and business operations.
- Superior leadership, team building, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail.
- High level knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe; and Zoom Conferencing Technology.
- Those who speak foreign languages (e.g. Spanish, Japanese, Cantonese, Tagalog) are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Position periodically requires off-site work at a war room or the courthouse when the case goes to trial
- Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
- Able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk while typing, using a mouse, and looking at a computer screen.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to handle routine or emergent issues.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing using a telephone, text messaging, or emails.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend over, and lift items from the ground exceeding 10lbs to a height from between one’s waist to eye level.

Compensation: $200,000 – $230,000 annually. The range presented is a reliable estimate of the base salary that this individual is expected to receive. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, internal and external pay equity, and other job related factors as permitted by law. Full-time employees may be eligible for health insurance with an optional Flexible Spending Account or a Health Savings Account, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, 401(k) Retirement, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program to support the personal wellness needs of our employees.
