The
Intermediate Vulnerability Analyst detects weaknesses in networks and software and then takes measures to correct and strengthen security within the system.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and perform vulnerability scans of the enterprise every 72 hours, including workstations, servers, switches, and routers using Tenable SC.
- Perform compliance scans of the systems that have an approved baseline.
- Review vulnerability reports from Microsoft TVM to confirm the impact of specific CVEs.
- Identify Zero-Day vulnerabilities within the environment through scanning and research.
- Perform compliance scans of newly created OS baseline images.
- Scan newly provisioned servers before they are added to production.
- Pull scan reports from Tenable SC and email the vulnerability reports as Excel spreadsheets to ISSOs and system owners.
- Produce weekly vulnerability debrief slides.
- Prepare and maintain documentation to include SOPs.
- Track Zero-Day vulnerabilities to closure and provide ad-hoc reporting.
- Provide tool status and highlight vulnerability issues and taskings during morning security stand-up calls.
- Review identified vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for remediation where required.
- Manage scanning infrastructure, monitoring that scanners are up and operational.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Nessus scanners in the environment.
- Assist with the deployment of agents once SBA acquires Tenable agents.
- Maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot the Tenable SC solution deployed on Linux, including Tenable SC and Nessus Manager.
- Manage the scanning configurations to align with the approved baseline/STIGS.
- Manage the scan repository configurations to ensure that new assets are added or that decommissioned assets are removed.
- Manage the scan repository configurations to ensure that scan zones are properly configured to pick up newly added devices.
- Ensure scanner updates/plugins are received within Tenable SC.
- Manage security permissions for Tenable users within Tenable SC.
- Provide auditors with access to Tenable to allow the auditors to perform their scans.
- Prepare and maintain documentation to include SOPs.
- Monitor the CISA KEV list for new additions from CISA and verify findings in the environment.
- Report on BODs to ensure vulnerabilities are being remediated within mandated guidelines.
- Support compliance on BOD’s initiatives through internal collaboration with internal teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in vulnerability assessment and analysis
- CompTIA PenTest+, CompTIA CySA+, EC-Council CEH, or similar level certification desired
- Background check
