Mission
Quantum is currently seeking a highly qualified Cloud Engineer. This role requires expertise in containerization, AWS deployment, Windows Server management, and DISA STIG implementation. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills and experience with infrastructure automation using Terraform. In this position, you will be responsible for managing containerized applications in both cloud and hybrid environments, ensuring seamless deployment, and applying security best practices in line with DoD requirements.
Responsibilities
Specialize in containerization using Docker and Kubernetes within AWS to deploy and manage applications across various environments (cloud and on-prem).Design and implement cloud solutions, optimize existing infrastructure, troubleshoot and maintain cloud environments, manage CI/CD pipelines, and ensure security compliance.Administer and troubleshoot AWS environments, ensuring efficient deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.Apply DISA STIGs and adhere to DoD security requirements for system configuration and hardening.Troubleshoot system issues in cloud-based and on-premises environments, providing timely resolutions to ensure system availability and reliability.Automate infrastructure deployment and management using Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.Provide Windows Server installation, patching, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with security policies and best practices.Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain cloud-based solutions tailored to DoD requirements.Document system configurations, deployments, troubleshooting procedures, and system maintenance activities.Collaborate with peers to implement best practices for cloud security, performance, and scalability.Support system accreditation efforts and maintain compliance with DoD directives and security standards.Performs Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Management, and Cyber Security Hardening for On-Prem and Cloud based Windows, Enterprise Linux systems, and Docker/Kubernetes.
Required Skills And Qualifications
Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance and able to obtain a DOD Top Secret Security Clearance and be eligible for SCIDoD IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) certification requiredMust have a minimum of five (5) years of experience, of which at least three (3) must be specialized experience including designing, implementing and/or administering medium to large information systems and/or networksMust have at least two (2) years of experience in creating technical documentation, reports and/or presentations. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Proven experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms such as AWS.Hands-on experience with Windows Server installation, patching, and troubleshooting.Experience with DISA STIGs, system hardening, and implementing security controls in compliance with DoD standards.Knowledge of Terraform and other IaC tools to automate infrastructure deployment.
Desired Skills And Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree of science in engineering or scientific field of study from an accredited college or universityRelevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plusStrong troubleshooting skills in cloud and on-prem environments.Experience with cloud architecture, particularly AWS (VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, IAM).Experience with security tools and methodologies related to DoD systems.Familiarity with SQL (MS SQL, MySQL, Postgres) and system monitoring tools.Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash.Strong technical documentation and communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issuesExperience working in a hybrid cloud environment, deploying applications across cloud and on-prem infrastructure.Knowledge of other automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools in AWS and on-prem environments.
