Position Overview
The
Network Administrator I will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the network infrastructure that supports the healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches, firewalls, and Cisco voice systems. You will also be responsible for monitoring network performance using tools such as Nagios or SolarWinds. This is a local Charlotte position with occasional travel to client sites or other company locations to provide on-the-ground support as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Infrastructure Management: Configure, maintain, and support Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring high levels of network performance and security.
- Cisco Voice Administration: Assist with the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of Cisco voice systems (VoIP) to ensure smooth communication operations.
- Network Monitoring & Performance: Utilize network monitoring tools (Nagios or SolarWinds) to track network health, troubleshoot performance issues, and resolve connectivity problems.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures to protect sensitive healthcare data and ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support for network-related issues, addressing both hardware and software issues efficiently and effectively.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation for network configurations, troubleshooting steps, and system updates.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other IT team members, as well as cross-functional teams, to address network requirements and issues in a timely manner.
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel (typically minimal) to company locations for on-site support, hardware installations, or network upgrades.
Required Qualifications: - Experience: 1-3 years of experience in network administration or a related IT support role, with a focus on Cisco technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, Cisco voice).
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Cisco networking hardware and configuration.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco voice systems (e.g., Cisco Unified Communications).
- Proficient in network monitoring using tools like Nagios or SolarWinds.
- Certifications: A CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or similar network certification is preferred.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve network issues effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and provide clear explanations of technical issues.
- Network Security Knowledge: Experience with network security protocols and best practices, including firewall configuration and VPN setup.
- Remote Work: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
- Occasional Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally to support on-site network needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the healthcare industry, particularly with HIPAA-compliant network systems.
- Familiarity with advanced network management and security protocols.
- Experience with cloud-based networking or VoIP integration.
