The CIO is a visionary and transformative role, experienced with defining and implementing an innovative and future-focused technology strategy for the organization. Plans and oversees the direction of the IT professionals responsible for all technology elements that support Sheppard Pratt clinical and back office operations. Works collaboratively with clinical and administrative leaders across the health system to ensure that IT strategy implemented is heavily aimed at optimizing and supporting clinical care and results for all Sheppard Pratt patients and ensure the financial stability and sustainability of the health system. Responsible, directly or through delegation through Senior Director, for the recruiting, onboarding, supervision, and coaching of the IT division comprised of approximately fifty team members.
As the Chief Information Officer you are responsible for:
Customer Relations
- Has a proven track record of -strong customer-service orientation.
- Has a demonstrated record of working collaboratively with internal executives to solve complex problems and define projects focused on complex industry and functional business requirements
- Collaborate with external industry leaders.
IT Strategic Planning
- In collaboration with other leaders within the organization, l lead the development, implementation, and on-going refinement of the IT Strategy that will drive significant change and transformation for the organization and the IT function overall.
- Leads the development and ongoing management of the IT strategic plan which aligns IT service delivery with the enterprise strategy of the Sheppard Pratt Health System and Community Services.
Staff Management/Leadership
- Embraces the role of the advisor and consultant, ensuring IT’s mission and strategy is well communicated and supported by all within the organization.
- Responsible, both directly and through appropriate delegation, for building, managing and maintaining an IT team with the skills and experience needed to design, develop and support Sheppard Pratt’s mission-critical systems.
- Demonstrates deep healthcare industry functional process expertise in multiple clinical and/or back office domains, and utilizes expertise in planning and leadership.
- Responsible for exemplifying SPHS values and leveraging those to recruit and retain top tier candidates.
IT Governance
- Leads the IT governance effort to continuously prioritize, deliver and measure the results of the IT investment which create value across the health system.
- Utilizes a metrics-based approach to service delivery performance management. Assures that projects are completed according to established timelines and ROI is measured and delivered.
- Responsible for assuring the development and consistent application of standard IT service delivery processes.
- Responsible for assuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and service level agreements.
- Ensures the best practices Cybersecurity initiatives are implemented and kept up to required healthcare industry standards.
Requirements:
Position requires Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related field of study. Master’s degree is preferred. Position requires 12+ years’ experience which includes:
- Recognition as a healthcare industry IT leader;
- Demonstrated experience leading major IT turnaround/transformation program(s) ;
- Demonstrated strategic planning capabilities in a complex healthcare delivery environment;
- Progressive IT service delivery roles which include deploying and configuring health care systems and architecture; experience with Allscripts, Epic and or Cerner applications strongly preferred;
- Deep healthcare industry functional process expertise in multiple clinical and/or back office domains preferred;
- Demonstrated abilities in defining, prioritizing and managing a complex portfolio of IT projects;
- Experience with negotiating enterprise vendor agreements that resulted in significant advantages to the organization.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity and regulatory protocols and controls.
