Position Summary:
As a Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in monitoring, supporting, maintaining, managing, troubleshooting, addressing tickets, and implementing network projects.
This position will work alongside a team of experienced network engineers and provide excellent customer service with a focus on high network availability in a 24x7 environment. This role will participate in an on-call rotation and will be responsible for network support for all enterprise network aspects, including technical support, audits, and projects.
The ideal candidate must be proactive, a strong team player, eager to learn, have a strong sense of responsibility, great at following instructions, adhere to standard operating procedures, and must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess strong knowledge of network engineering concepts, with experience in supporting and maintaining network infrastructure devices such as Cisco switches, routers, PAN firewalls, F5 load balancers, and Cisco wireless controllers.
This fully onsite role requires living within a 1-hour drive from Taylor, TX. Occasional work will be at the Samsung Austin Semiconductor location in northeast Austin, TX for project collaboration and onboarding.
Responsibilities:
- Support network lifecycle management: Design, implement, manage, troubleshoot, and support critical network devices, such as Cisco switches, routers, PAN firewalls, F5 load balancers, Cisco wireless controllers, and access points in a fast-paced environment at a crucial manufacturing facility.
- Handle system requests and tickets, which involve defining solutions for internal customers, planning, preparation, deployment, implementation, monitoring, and documentation.
- Responsible for planning and executing multiple projects related to infrastructure expansion, replacement, upgrades (HW/SW), and other IT-related tasks.
- Proactively monitor network performance, escalate and resolve issues as needed following standard procedure and meeting internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Support the team by providing onsite and after-hours support as required, and participating in an on-call rotation.
- Execute lab tests for validating solutions, bug fixes, impact analysis, and other IT-related tasks.
- Work with vendors and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for issue escalation, maintenance windows, RMA processing, and other IT-related tasks.
- Follow standard operating procedures, checklists, and conform to corporate change-control and policies.
- Support the network team with multiple internal tasks, including inventory management, hardware staging, peer review, audits, IP address management and assignment, and other IT-related tasks.
- Create reports as needed by management and maintain weekly reports.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all network systems (LAN/Data Center/Wireless/firewalls/load balancers, etc.) and conduct knowledge transfer to the team.
Requirements - 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise networks, with hands-on experience in switching and routing.
- Associate's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Current CCNA certification.
- Knowledge of various networking protocols and technologies, including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, STP, VRF, IPv4 subnetting, VSS, IGMP, PIM, 802.1x, TACACS+, SYSLOG, Cisco IOS, Cisco NX-OS, NMS systems.
- A strong sense of responsibility.
- Must live within 1 driving hour maximum from Taylor, TX.
- Flexibility to work at the Samsung Austin Semiconductor facility in North East Austin occasionally, for training and special projects.
- Willing and able to commute to the office 5 days per week.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
Preferred:
- One or more certifications: Palo Alto Firewalls, F5 Load balancer, Cisco Wireless
- 5+ Years of experience in an enterprise network operations role.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux and the ability to script in Python, Ansible, or similar, to showcase their experience with automation and scripting for efficient network management.
