The Team:
The Chief of Staff (CoS) works directly for the President of Market Intelligence, supporting the overall effectiveness and organization of the office of the President both internally and externally. The CoS is at the heart of a $4.7B+ business with 20,000 colleagues around the world. Importantly, the CoS is a critical role on the MI leadership team, providing thought partnership to the President, and delivering excellence in an exciting, fast-paced and high-performance work environment.
Responsibilities and Impact:
- The role requires a combination of strategy, analysis and project management skills together with a willingness to play an active role focused on strategic execution at the highest levels. As CoS you will be contributing to large-scale & highly visible initiatives focused on driving growth and operational excellence, including but not limited to: supporting critical business priorities for the President of MI, strategic business planning, growth initiatives, and providing business analysis to support decision-making. Strategic planning efforts are among the top priorities for the continued growth and development of the business. Collaboration across functions and geographies is vital as you will handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities, simultaneously balancing longer term projects with the urgency of immediate demands.
- This role suits a self-starter with a ‘roll-up-your sleeves’ attitude who thrives in a fast-paced environment with the ability to respond to requests with urgency, organization, and enthusiasm. You must demonstrate extreme discretion as you will operate under the highest levels of confidentiality. Someone who is adept at quickly assimilating information and condensing key themes, understanding the next steps, and able to construct and deliver on action plans will thrive in this role. Cultural fit is also key as this is a close-knit team who moves fast, functions at the highest levels and strives to bring positive energy and fun to the work. This role is an ideal 24 to 36-month rotation for an exceptional performer.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $121.7k to $213.9k. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
Professional Experience
- 8+ years of experience in financial services, professional services, or related field; comprehensive understanding of S&P Global’s businesses, products and services.
- At least 5 years of business experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives, financial analysis and/or general business administration.
- Broad range of experience with analysis tools and frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling with data in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Very strong communication and facilitation together with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across the organization to drive business results without ego.
- The demonstrated ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities, simultaneously addressing the urgency of immediate demands with long-term projects, with a track record of successfully juggling multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to represent the role and the Office of the President with a style that is aligned with the President; maturity to work with confidence, urgency, diplomacy, humility; requires a high degree of confidentiality across all levels.
- Experience managing demanding deadlines, changing requirements, and at times, working with limited resources and ambiguity.
- Proven ability to navigate effectively and efficiently within a large matrixed organization.
- Very high standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretion and unquestioned ethics.
- Ability to demonstrate resilience, gravitas, and a strong EQ to engage diplomatically, constructively, and collaboratively with senior executives.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- PowerBI or similar BI tools such as Tableau
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Understanding of the Market Intelligence division is preferred
Key responsibilities:
CEO Efficiency and Effectiveness
- Work closely with key team members to enhance the President’s ability to provide direction-setting, problem identification and solving, decision alignment, speed and transparent communication. Develop strong working relationships with Executive Leadership and other key internal stakeholders.
- Help the President lead the business by gathering contextual information, gaining points of view and perspective, and synthesizing concerns and views. Surface, connect and translate "the dots" (organizational themes, trends, operating gaps or barriers) to help move leaders and business objectives forward.
- Support Board of Directors activities: develop board reports and updates and support executive events, as required. Consult with Company Secretary on board activities to ensure compliance with board governance.
- Support effective flow of information and decisions for President and their leadership team by preparing meeting agendas and coordinating offsites.
- Help the President maximize their time within a strategic framework. Help identify, organize, and bring to the President critical issues and required information to help improve decision making and problem-solving.
- Partner closely with executive assistant who leads on calendar management, to ensure the most effective use of the President’s time.
- Facilitate effective interactions between President and internal and external constituents (including Board, clients, external partners, Executive Leadership Team, MI Leadership Team, COS’s, etc.) through correspondence, meeting prep, briefings, follow-ups, etc.; track progress on action items; holding all relevant parties accountable for outcomes.
- Oversee events & strategic offsites: plan and execute strategic offsites, leadership team meetings and other onsite and offsite events, including commercial and strategic events.
Project Leadership
- Execute selected key initiatives or projects (e.g. investor day, strategic plan, SLG offsite, etc.) and additional duties as assigned by the President.
- Monitor and maintain an inventory of critical path projects in which the President is especially interested and/or for which awareness and involvement is essential.
- Determine the proper course of action and ensure all issues are addressed properly and efficiently and keep track of progress until complete.
- Follow up & advise on strategic projects and initiatives and review that the work is done in the stipulated time and quality.
CEO Communications
- Strong integration with Communications, partnership with the People team, and all other partner functions and divisions, as well as subject matter experts to support communications, stakeholder outreach, and speaking engagements, both internal and external.
- Help prepare briefing packets and meetings for Quarterly Business Reviews, Quarterly Earnings Calls and Shareholder meetings, and other critical meetings, representing the President’s view in the planning sessions, including but not limited to travel, meeting prep, logistical considerations, and the like.
Other Performance Enablers
- Partner with communications, strategy, legal, IR, People and finance teams to support business planning, annual goal setting, and quarterly operational and financial processes driven through the President’s office.
- Support the President in monitoring internal data related to organizational performance (P&L, KPI reporting etc.) and external insights about markets and competition.
- Analyze statistics, research data, KPIs and company/country data as needed on an ad-hoc basis.
- Prepare division President’s engagements with a focus on our customers, shareholders, and our people.
- Track and measure progress on division-wide objectives and KPIs as part of executive reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Ensure execution of action items and critical business priorities in partnership with the leadership team and broader division.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including communications, sales & marketing, people, technology, and finance to support process improvement and problem-solving.
- Own agenda and partner with the Strategy team to coordinate materials for key meetings including: Board Meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews, and Strategy Meetings.
- Liaise with enterprise stakeholders to provide critical inputs to corporate deliverables and investor preparation (e.g., Earnings).
