Summary:
The Senior Auditor is responsible for executing assurance work, which includes identifying and testing internal controls, procedures, and risk management systems in assigned areas. This role involves performing risk assessments of the auditable universe, analyzing risks for each engagement, and assisting in determining the scope of the assigned assurance work.
Job Functions:
Organizational and Communication Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good understanding of human relations and the ability to maintain satisfactory relationships with all bank staff.
- Ability to assist in problem-solving with all banks in the holding company.
Regulatory and Compliance:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations.
- Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences.
Audit Planning and Execution:
- Plan and organize internal audit assignments to determine the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and systems of risk management, and efficiency of operations.
- Represent the Internal Audit Department in an advisory capacity to assist business unit management in assessing internal controls, procedures, and systems.
- Perform risk analysis, identify internal controls, and design and execute audit tests of controls and transactions in accordance with professional standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare complete audit work papers to support audit work performed and conclusions drawn.
- Resolve review notes from supervisor review of audit work papers.
- Prepare audit reports for management review of exceptions and control deficiencies noted during the examination.
- Perform follow-up as necessary where significant exceptions were noted to confirm resolution of the audit findings.
Technical Skills:
- Good computer and office equipment operation skills.
- Use personal computing software applications (MS Office) and other data processing tools in data analysis and organizing of supporting audit work papers.
Continuous Improvement:
- Recommend changes and improvements to audit procedures.
- Follow through on questionable items or procedures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree n Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of financial institution operations, policies, and procedures.
Experience:
- 3-4 years of work experience in accounting, risk management, audit, banking, or a related field.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrated understanding of bank accounting principles.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
