Job Overview
We are in search of a proficient Senior Azure Cloud DevOps Engineer to become an integral part of our dynamic team. This pivotal position is focused on enhancing the organization's adoption of scientific cloud computing methodologies and best practices. You will be tasked with ensuring the integrity, security, and reliability of our cloud-based systems, while also evaluating existing configurations and crafting advanced solutions in areas including networking, security, infrastructure-as-code, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and high-performance computing.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design, implement, optimize, and sustain cloud-based solutions tailored to organizational requirements.
- Direct the deployment and resolution of cloud infrastructure issues, while educating teams on cloud initiatives and maintaining an optimal security posture.
- Oversee the operational efficiency of data storage and processing systems, ensuring compliance with security protocols and best practices in cloud security.
- Support cloud services management, including patching, maintenance, and configuration oversight.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to manage cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and automation across applications.
- Establish and maintain a CI/CD (DevSecOps) pipeline for systems, services, and infrastructure, emphasizing automation and security.
- Monitor system performance, implementing proactive measures for maintenance and issue resolution.
- Address identity management and authentication challenges to guarantee secure operations.
- Engage in complex problem-solving alongside project teams to implement innovative solutions.
- Develop scripts for automating operational tasks within a cloud environment, leveraging your programming and scripting capabilities.
- Ensure operational uptime and performance metrics align with contractual obligations and expectations.
- Facilitate daily operational activities, encompassing incident management, change management, and problem resolution.
- Assist technical leads in the formulation of operational strategies, documentation, and monitoring frameworks.
- Adhere to industry standards for cloud configurations, architecture, and security practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (advanced degrees are an asset).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Azure cloud engineering, architecture, or DevSecOps.
- Proficient in version control systems, particularly Git.
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and various containerization technologies.
- Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including PowerShell/CLI.
- Comprehensive understanding of CI/CD processes, including GitHub Actions and YAML.
- Familiarity with Azure Identity and Access Management, Governance, and security best practices.
- Sound experience with Azure Batch compute and related services.
- Proficient in Python or R for scripting and automation tasks; knowledge of data manipulation libraries is advantageous.
- Background in designing and managing data pipelines.
