Summary Description
The IT Network Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving Dolby's network services and devices, handling day-to-day operations, enhancing the network architecture, and carrying out various administrative and operational tasks to ensure the network devices and systems are up-to-date and well-documented. They use the ITIL process to manage issues with the network and ensure that it aligns with business requirements. In addition, this role provides technical networking consultation to IT support staff, engineering teams, and end-users to support business initiatives. This position reports to the Global IT Networks Manager and is based out of our Dolby office in Atlanta.
Essential Job Functions
- Research, design, configure, maintain, monitor, consult, and report on the following technical areas of focus:
- WAN service and maintenance
- LAN service and maintenance
- Wireless networking service and maintenance
- Remote access service and maintenance
- Routing and VLAN maintenance
- Firewall maintenance
- Network application maintenance
- Network services security
- Network systems monitoring, auditing, and reporting
- Deploy, maintain, and consult regarding all network components, functions, naming conventions, and IP service implementations (ip schemes, VLANs, routing, DNS, wins, DHCP, IPSec, etc.).
- Provide and maintain comprehensive documentation of Dolby’s network infrastructure.
- Support secured remote access infrastructure interconnectivity for network resources to the mobile worker, the home-office employee, and to external business partners.
- Evaluate and deploy additional networking tools and functionality as needed. Maintained a parallel test lab for testing new network products and disaster recovery situations.
- Act as 3rd level support and networking technology resource to the Service Desk and the IT field support teams. Collaborate with and provides guidance to Service Desk staff, client computing team, engineering teams, and others on network-related projects.
- Participate in a follow-the-sun 24x7 on-call IT Infrastructure engineer rotation with other members of the IT Infrastructure group.
- Independently manage the execution of minor projects focused on delivering new system functionality, including defining deliverables and milestones, reporting the status of the projects, and coordinating with internal business partners and external partners to deliver the projects on time and on budget.
- Perform tasks assigned by the immediate manager to complete performance objectives and assist team members as needed.
- Mentor and manage more junior team members on technical issues.
- Create, oversee, and test security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery).
- Maintain, administer, and troubleshoot network operations on a day-to-day basis.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience, And Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working as an IT network engineer in a corporate environment working with global networks.
- Expert knowledge and experience in implementing and maintaining the following network technologies:
- Cisco hardware and operating systems, including Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Nexus switching.
- Palo Alto Networks (PAN) firewall platforms and VPN solutions.
- Network routing protocols, including TCP/IP, and BGP.
- Meraki switches and access point experience and/or 802.11 a/b/g/n standards.
- Network services, QOS, and network hardware (i.e., switches, routers, firewalls, etc.) in a LAN/WAN environment.
- Desired experience with 802.1x Network Access Control using Forescout is a nice to have.
- Advanced knowledge of coding languages for scripting and developing network automation (e.g, Python, Perl, Ansible)
- Collaborating with architects to design and implement functional company networks that integrate with cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with non-Cisco switching platforms is preferred (e.g., Extreme Networks, Arista, etc.).
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) VPCs, subnets, route tables, IGW, VGW, and EC2 is a strong requirement.
- Experience managing large-scale global projects involving team members in multiple regions.
- Solid understanding of ITIL processes; ITIL Foundations certification is nice to have.
- Strong knowledge of MS Windows operating systems and productivity applications.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to research and test solutions, and strong planning and project coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills (in English).
- Excellent communication, listening, and customer service skills.
Job Expectations
- Travel for business as required
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to interact is required. This is necessary to enable meetings with team members in other regions, including the need to perform a later schedule often (e.g. until 8pm European time) to allow for more interaction with the team in the San Francisco (US office).

The Atlanta Area base salary range for this full-time position is
$112,800 - $137,900, which can vary if outside this location, plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
