Position Summary
The Systems Engineer, based at our El Segundo, CA Innovation Labs, will lead technical initiatives to enhance EVSE equipment and develop innovative charging solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and OEMs, creating detailed technical requirements, and contributing to industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in electronics design, troubleshooting, and high-voltage systems, with a passion for driving advancements in electric vehicle charging technology.
Responsibilities
- Lead review and approvals for technical improvements to existing EVSE equipment and new products.
- Create detailed requirements and test plans for sub-components of the equipment, including components such as power modules and contactors.
- Perform detailed RCA efforts, and develop proposed fixes for, technical issues seen in current charging products.
- Serve as technical experts in calls with suppliers for component level and system level suppliers for existing and future products
- Collaborate with vehicle OEMs on industry wide solutions to improve charging success rates
- Drive cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, embedded firmware, and clour software teams, for solutions to identified issues.
- Participate in one or more standards groups to help shape industry norms and best practices for vehicle charging.
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering with at least 2 years of work experience in electronics design, troubleshooting, and review Experience with High voltage DC, 200+V, strongly preferred Experience creating analog spice simulations in any spice software, such as pspice or LTspice Experience in the design and troubleshooting of switched mode power supplies strongly preferred Experience with benchtop test equipment such as power supplies, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes Experience creating requirements and test plans, acceptance criteria, for technical systems strongly preferred. Occasional (<=10%) domestic travel may be required Familiarity with industry standards, such as UL2202 or OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1, preffered Experience working directly with component suppliers, both sales and technical teams, preferred. Experience performing data processing with tools like python a plus Experience working with NRTLs like UL a plus.
The estimated salary range for this position is $135,000 USD to $145,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
