Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer Information Systems normally required, or five (5) years equivalent work experience .
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, and grammatical skills; proficient in interpersonal relations and verbal/written communication skills; knowledge and/or experience with Windows XP/7/8, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Windows server, Citrix Metaframe, Virtualization, and SAN technology; knowledge and experience with network server, firewall, router, switch, telecommunication, wireless, and remote connectivity (VPN) configuration and maintenance; knowledge and experience with desktop, laptop, thin client, mobile devices, peripheral, communication equipment, and connectivity; proven ability to design/recommend solutions for user and network processes and applications; proven ability to diagnose computer and network problems and assure appropriate corrections are made; ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships; strong organizational skills; valid driver's license and dependable means of transportation; visual and auditory skills.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years successful work experience with IT systems support and administration, and/or design normally required.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining the computerized systems; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; and vendors; complying with operating policies and procedures and regulatory requirements; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports; providing advanced support for computer, network, and communications hardware, software, and security related issues, and training end users to use the agency’s information systems effectively.
Essential Duties
- Supports the mission of the client which is to answer Christ's call by providing health care and related services to those who are striving to achieve their highest possible quality of life, health and comfort and the mission of the client which is to witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ by providing comprehensive health care and social support to maximize the quality of life for older adults in the communities that we serve.
- Provides proactive and reactive support for client and network based computer and communication equipment and software including work station, server, peripheral, remote/mobile, and communication networks in use by staff
- Designs, creates, and maintains network and server infrastructure, interfaces and processes in accordance with ITIL practices.
- Develops and maintains standards, schedules and documentation of network diagrams, change management, equipment inventory, equipment maintenance and life cycle, etc.
- Responds to and corrects user problems related to hardware and software
- Installs and sets up hardware and software as appropriate.
- Participates in the analysis, recommendation, and project management steps of agency process improvements to assure appropriate automated solutions are implemented.
- Performs System backup, restores, and integrity tests of data.
- Coordinates and performs system recovery/disaster recovery testing as scheduled
- Functions as Network Administrator for PC LAN and WAN
- Monitors and maintains computer, server, telephony, and network security activity logs and reports and resolves integrity issues in accordance with security and HIPAA regulations.
- Assures hardware and software inventories and listings are maintained in accordance with established standards and requirements
- Assists with designing, creating, and supporting reporting tools for agency’s information systems.
- Participates in training for agency computer users as follows:
- May train and orients staff on equipment and software including strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- May act as facilitator for the in-house users group.
i) Prepares an agenda with appropriate topics.
ii) Arranges for presentation of user group topics.
iii) Is an active participant in the group as both a presenter and a member.
- Keeps apprised of current level of technology and acts as an agency resource person in this area as follows:
- Recommends changes to systems which may be simplified or facilitated by the use of computerization.
- Participates in committees as assigned.
- Adheres to budget parameters
- Participates in development of the agency’s Emergency Response Plan.
- Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices, laws and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Communicates with the Manager, Information Technology, other managers, and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate activities.
- Manages vendor communications for development and implementation of new and existing technologies.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other personnel, clients, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
- Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
