About the Sr. Network Engineer Opportunity:
WideNet Consulting has an exciting need for a Sr. Network Engineer who is ready to hit the ground running! As a member of the Network Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the design, evaluation, procurement, implementation, ongoing maintenance and operational support of our IP network systems worldwide. You will provide expertise and leadership in the design, maintenance and support of company's Internet and Enterprise networks, and work closely with systems engineers, software developers/testers, and program managers to deliver our network strategy.
Essential Job Duties
Design, implement and support Internet and Enterprise networks worldwide
Provide network support for all production services - network troubleshooting, root cause analysis, design and implementation of long term solutions
Performance and capacity planning: audit, monitor, analyze and reconfigure network environments for performance improvements and future scalability
Work closely with systems engineering and software developers/testers providing network support and consulting expertise along with deployment within a cloud environment.
Participate in scheduled maintenance during non-peak hours
Document and adhere to network engineering processes and procedures regarding network release planning, testing, implementation, documentation and support (redundancy, disaster recovery, high availability)
Communicate clearly to business and technical groups within the company
Recommend and facilitate the planning of network hardware and software upgrades.
Create, maintain, and improve network security policies and procedures
Provide network administration decisions for InfoSpace services and systems
Stay current with new developments in the security industry including vulnerabilities, viruses, alerts, bugs, and other security impacting threats
Qualifications
Skills, Education and Experience
5 - 10 years’ experience with network design, implementation and support in a large IP network of routers, switches, load-balancers, firewalls, and IDS/IPS hardware
Strong knowledge of IP routing and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
Strong knowledge of LAN switching in an Ethernet network and WAN transport protocols.
Possess a deep understanding of network and web related protocols such as, HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP.
Deep knowledge of IPSEC and SSL VPN technologies.
In-depth knowledge of packet capture tools (tcpdump, wireshark), packet and data flow analysis.
Strong F5 LTM, GTM knowledge (iRules, Load balancing methods, header inspection)
Knowledge of wireless implementations, authentication mechanisms, mobile client access and site surveys.
Firm understanding of ACLs and network segmentation.
In-depth knowledge of DNS and DHCP administration.
Experience implementing and maintaining muti-vendor routing and switching and security environments.
Experience with network management platforms (Solarwinds, Cacti) and protocols (SNMP, RMON)
Experience in developing and maintaining management scripts a plus (python, powershell)
Ability to drive towards and achieve positive results on schedule in a fast paced environment required
Must possess outstanding written and oral communication skills
Must be a results-driven, self-directed worker with good team collaboration skills
Participate in a shared on-call schedule
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience required.
