The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting Integral Blue’s consulting, construction, and maintenance services projects, including but not limited to providing assistance with the technical aspects of multiple concurrent projects, developing repair plans, troubleshooting and resolving field device failures, performing network integration, and coordinating with IB’s team of Project Managers, Network and Systems Engineers, and Field Professionals throughout performance of those duties. The ITS Network Engineer will report to one of Integral Blue’s Senior Systems Engineers.
This position will work out of Integral Blue’s Wyoming, Michigan office Monday through Friday with occasional remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:
- Developing familiarity and eventual expertise in a variety of transportation system end devices and systems, including cellular and cable modems, firewalls, Ethernet switches, CCTV cameras, dynamic message signs, vehicle detection systems, video wall systems, video management software, and network monitoring software;
- Supporting field hardware integration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of network infrastructure components including switches, routers, fixed wireless radios, firewalls, and Internet modems;
- Day to day management, configuration, troubleshooting and repair of all network end devices including work order review and processing as well as remote support for Field Professionals;
- Management, maintenance, and updating of field device access credentials;
- Network monitoring system (NMS) configurations;
- Performance of network health checks, capacity and performance verification, and reporting;
- Planning, designing, mockup, testing and execution of network upgrades and migrations of end devices between networks and systems;
- Working with leased communication providers to deploy, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain services;
- Understanding regulatory requirements and validating network policy compliance;
- Reviewing device configurations in support of project turn-over and acceptance into maintenance;
- Designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions that streamline network operations which may involve creating scripts utilizing programming languages and leveraging automation frameworks to automate repetitive tasks, configuration management, provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of network devices and services;
- Performing initial configuration of devices and systems for integration;
- Developing and maintaining network related documentation (configurations, diagrams, procedures, manuals, as-builts, IP addressing schemes, etc.);
- Developing and/or reviewing bills of material for different technical project components;
- Developing project submittals that meet proposal specifications and plans to include device cut-sheets, equipment configuration plans, implementation plans, acceptance test plans, and IP scheme designs;
- Performing project-specific engineering related to fixed wireless radios, fiber optic cable, network engineering, and ITS device integration;
- Assisting Project Managers with project schedule development;
- Assisting Project Managers with proposal/plan “take-offs” and specification reviews in preparation for project bid estimation;
- Assisting with technical proposal development;
- Successfully communicating project scope and requirements to clients, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers;
- Attending project meetings;
- Participate in on-call rotations to address urgent network and system incidents outside regular business hours; and
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by designated supervisor and IB Management.
Qualifications Required:
- Five (5) years of network engineering and administration;
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience listed within the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required section;
- Current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification;
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills;
- Good problem solving and analytical ability; and
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications Desired but Not Required:
- Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) experience;
- Wireless certifications (CWNA, etc.);
- Cybersecurity certifications (ICS2 SSCP, CompTIA Security+, etc.);
- Any existing knowledge, skills, or abilities related to Intelligent Transportation Systems, video display systems, connected vehicle technology, traffic signal systems, or backhaul communications such as wireless and fiber optics; and
- SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of and experience working with various Cisco products, platforms, protocols, and industry best practices;
- Knowledge of network monitoring systems and the ability to perform routine network health and performance checks;
- Knowledge of access control policy platforms such as Cisco ISE and the use of protocols such as TACACS/TACACS+, and RADIUS;
- Knowledge and experience configuring and testing various network security appliances;
- Knowledge of IT engineering guiding principles and practices, including Layer 2 / Layer 3 network design, data throughput capacity analysis, and network security;
- Knowledge of design theories and applications of video multicast traffic, including field experience on deployment of leased lines, wireless, fiber optic, and twisted pair Ethernet network devices and systems;
- Knowledge of network components, device integration procedures, techniques, IT network design, architecture, and compliance standards;
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of troubleshooting and diagnosing network equipment failures;
- Skill in writing, compiling, and reviewing technical data, specifications and documentation;
- Skill in deployment of leased lines, wireless, fiber optic, and twisted pair Ethernet network devices and systems;
- Skill in interpreting technical information and producing deployment plans;
- Skill in installing, maintaining, integrating, and testing network hardware;
- Skill in operating specialized electronic testing tools such as network analyzers;
- Skill in creating, reading, and interpreting network topology maps and interconnect drawings;
- Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands;
- Ability to learn and adapt to changing network hardware and protocols;
- Ability to read, understand and follow complex specifications, schematics, and manuals;
- Ability to take initiative in completing tasks and goals as outlined by others and work with limited direct oversight;
- Ability to work under pressure, achieving tight deadlines without compromising quality;
