Network Engineer must have an active CCNP or better. STRONG and extensive experience with F5. Someone that came from a NOC environment is highly preferred. Director has a military background and mentioned that engineers with similar background do well in this environment. Nexus experience is required.
• Our client operates a state of the art Managed Services business that provides converged data center network services to enterprise customers around the world.
• This position is for a Senior Network Engineer involved in the daily operation and maintenance of the core data center network and operation.
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving network issues within a production network is an absolute requirement for a candidate to be successful.
• Responsibilities include but not limited to configure and maintain core routing policies in the production network environment, BGP peering and configuring secure access with customer environments interfacing with the services network.
• Candidate will work with 3rd party providers to analyze and resolve connectivity and transport issues.
• Monitor and maintain network services within the core backbone, service network and customer interfaces.
• Plans, designs and implements networked systems, including configurations, and supports/troubleshoots network problems.
• Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
• Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods.
• Prepares the analysis of the capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling.
• Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies.
• In partnership with the Network Engineering team, identify gaps and remediation opportunities within business processes and run books.
• Ensure continuous alignment between the two teams and that all relevant knowledge artifacts stay relevant.
• Drives performance in the execution of all network related projects and service transition functions.
• Responsible for keeping the service delivery model up to date and that all processes are being used and measured.
• In partnership with the network engineering group, stays engaged and relevant within the technology selection process-ensures that all operational concerns are taken into consideration and properly disposition.
• Thought leader, evangelist and change agent for all tools and platforms that support, and influence the network supplier services delivery function.
Required Technical Skills:
• Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Cisco Routers and Switches, F5 Load Balancers, Juniper Routers & Switches, NetScout, Firewalls.
• Cisco routing and switching experience is required with a proven track record of hands on experience.
• Working knowledge of Cisco Nexus products is required, preferably Nexus 7700 with F3 line cards, 7000, 5500/5600 and 2000 series models.
• Hands on experience operating and troubleshooting Data Center related technologies such as Fabric Path, VPC plus, VRFs to include intra and inter routing.
• Experience with VRF, VLAN, STP, VTP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS.
• Experience working with and troubleshooting the following routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) and route redistribution with all of the preceding.
Desired Technical Skills:
• Experience in designing analyzing, planning, and modifying network components supporting customer communication implementation activities.
• Understanding and experience working with Microsoft and Apple operating systems.
• Proven track record in networking with remote trouble shooting experience
• Ability to capture and analyze logs and packet traces via wire shark
• Hands on with complex Quality of Service (QOS) implementations
• Experience working with converged voice and video infrastructures is highly desired.
• Analyze complex logs and identify the customer issues in order to provide effective resolutions.
• Understanding and experiencing working with virtualization technologies.
Desired Skills & Experience:
• Required minimum Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent, CCIE Preferred, preference given to data center related certifications.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business Administration.
• Experience working in a large, Fortune 100 environment.
• 10 years of IT/IS management of systems administration.
