Job Summary:
As a Network Technician, you will be responsible for the delivery of technical services for our client at Point Magu, Ca. You will be part of a team supporting a hosted environment that delivers hosted services to the U.S. Navy. You will be providing a mixture of preventative support as well as integration activity of all types of network equipment. You will be looked upon as a subject matter expert and expected to ensure fellow team members are making reliable technical decisions, while supporting and deploying soundly engineered services and complex systems that run some of our nations critical systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain and monitor all network, security, and encryption systems to meet the organization's current and future requirements.
Responsible for the operation, management, and maintenance of the network architecture using the proper network devices and productivity tools
Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively.
Work within strict time frames and elevate incidents within defined timeframes.
Test all changes to networks, hardware, software, and hosted applications.
Constructively work with various vendors and service providers to ensure productive environment.
Resolve issues and prepare status reviews and reports for review by Program Manager on a monthly basis.
Professionally represent the infrastructure team as a technical consultant on projects.
Maintain the necessary project plans and documentation of all network infrastructure builds and modifications.
Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends.
Contribute to a personal on-going commitment of self-training to preserve professional viability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum four (4) years’ experience - Switching/VLAN/Routing/Firewalling Support
Have multiple certifications, high aptitude level. The following certifications are required:
CompTIA Security Plus and one of the following: CCNA/CCNP/CCNP Security/CCIE
Top Secret clearance is required for this position.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Basic computer and operating system knowledge
Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, and active listening
Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly.
Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately.
A strong understanding of network protocols (i.e., DNS, DHCP, VPC, Layer 2 (LAN) and Layer 3 (routing)
Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide network services.
