Job Responsibilities
The Office of Information Technology Services at Lander University is seeking a highly talented Network Engineer to provide network engineering and technical support for LAN, WAN, VoIP, and network infrastructure. In collaboration with a talented IT team, ensure secure and efficient operation of university network systems with minimal downtime. Design, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain network equipment (Cisco, Meraki). Align networking activities with industry best practices, university policies, and directions. Offer technical and training assistance to IT teams. Configure, deploy, and maintain network and telecommunication equipment. Install and maintain structured cabling (CAT3/6/6a, Fiber, Copper, Coaxial).
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, telecommunication or related field. Relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Five (5) years of progressive experience working in complex network environments. The successful candidate possesses cisco network certifications with excellent understanding and working knowledge of networking concepts, routing and switching; and have demonstrated mastery level in networking topology and configuration including layer 3. This successful candidate provides hands-on network support of Cisco/Meraki hardware and software; installs network and telecommunication Cisco/WebEx equipment/solutions; troubleshoots and addresses physical cable, transceiver, power supply issues; effectively manages high availability firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, VLANs, Edge Routers, access, and Core Switches. A valid driver's license and safe driving history are required. Must have strong skills in providing excellent customer service and demonstrate strong ethics.

Must have excellent oral and written communication and problem-solving skills, good project management skills on a varying level to technical expertise and ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Should possess excellent time management, decision making and analytical skills. Ability to manage, train, direct and coordinate the work of other employees. Must be able to prepare technical reports and detailed computer specifications for purchases. Ability to establish effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students. Able to perform in an independent manner under limited supervision.
