Department Overview
WDTech Infrastructure & Operations designs, operates, and supports the technology platforms on which W&D builds and operates business systems. I&O provides productivity and collaboration solutions for an increasingly decentralized and mobile workforce.
The Impact You Will Have
The Network Engineer is responsible for activities related to the analysis, installation, configuration, maintenance, security, and repair of the enterprise-wide LAN, WAN, wireless, and network security infrastructure. The incumbent will also maintain network availability, reliability, and performance that conform to business requirements. The position requires technical knowledge and experience in monitoring, security, and maintenance of an enterprise network environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide all levels of support for LAN/WAN issues.
- Configure, setup, and maintain Cisco technologies, configuration and administration, routers, and switches for access to critical business applications.
- Manage assigned projects for network related changes to the enterprise. Follows best-practice industry standards and assist with network design which are functional, scalable, and secure.
- Provide technical assistance and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of issues, including the determination and provisioning of workaround solutions and escalations.
- Provide escalated, complex technical support to staff and peers by investigating and resolving network-related matters.
- Participate in team on-call rotation and provide support for project and operational efforts.
- Track, create and/or propose remediation solutions for vulnerability findings reported by the Information Security team.
- Presence in the office, generally 8:30 am – 5:30 pm EST, 3 days per week
Education and Experience
- A minimum three (3) years as a full-time network engineer in a mid to large complex environment consisting of Cisco WAN/LAN hardware and software.
- An active CCNA certification, or equivalent technical or professional experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst Layer 2 /3 Switches Cisco ISR and ASR series routers.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues with complex systems and network environments.
- Experience with Cisco WAN/LAN/WLAN technologies, including primary routing protocols such as: EIGRP / BGP, some OSPF / RIP, redistribution, route maps, Access Control Lists (ACL), IP Subnet/ Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM), SNMPv2 / SNMPv3, TACACS/Radius
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience with designing, integrating, monitoring, and maintaining Cisco interconnected networks, for LAN, Wide Area
- Knowledge of firewall technologies including Cisco FTD firewalls, Cisco ASA and ISE technologies.
- Knowledge of Cisco Enterprise Wireless, Cisco Meraki Wireless or other enterprise wireless solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and technical documentation skills, to include creating network diagrams, operations and maintenance procedures, and technical presentations.
- Customer-focused with a commitment to maintaining a high quality of work performed, and a drive for continuous learning and provide high-quality support in current and future services.
- Ability to use and contribute to the knowledge base of solutions and techniques, and shift from theoretical to pragmatic.
- This position may require participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support as well as overnight travel within the United States up to 25%
This position has an estimated base salary of $90,000 - $120,000 plus discretionary bonus. An employment offer is based on the applicant’s relevant work experience, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
