Position: System Engineer

Our great client is currently seeking a Systems Engineer with an active TS/SCI with Poly to join our team in the Hanover, MD area. General Office environment the work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Responsibilities:
Administration and optimization of existing hosts and servers to ensure a high degree of availability and appropriate resource management. Research, recommend and implement strategies and hardware and software products to build upon a highly complex infrastructure that supports the changing needs of our customer. The systems engineer will design, develop, integrate and maintain complex systems for every stage of a lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be able to reliably deliver mission-critical infrastructure with an eye toward accessibility, optimization, and security.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Fourteen (14) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
- Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience installing, configuring and maintaining VMWare products including, but not limited to ESXi, vCenter, VSAN and NSX.
- Experience installing, configuring and maintaining VDI environments, specifically VMWare Horizon View.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers and desktops.
- Experience with networking concepts such as routing, switching, encryption, and firewalls.
- Experience with TCP/IP networking, networking architecture, and its interrelation to desktops, servers, and operating systems.
- Experience with packet capture and network analysis tools.
- Experience with network security principles, threats, and vulnerabilities.
- Experience with monitoring solutions and datacenter operations.
- Understanding of Software Defined Networking & Micro-segmentation.
- System Engineers must be able to successfully demonstrate the following capabilities:
- Implement operational view, technical standard view, and system and services view for architecting application DoDAF standards.
- Review and /or approve system engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specification meet system needs are accurate, comprehensive, and complete.
- Capture all interface designs in a command interface control format and store interface data in a commonly accessible repository.
- Asses each risk to the program and determine the probability of occurrence and quantified consequence of failure in accordance with an approved risk management plan.
- Prepare time-line analysis diagrams illustrating the flow of time-dependent functions.
- Support the planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process (as well as other
- Government Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Process).
- Support the development and review of Joint Capability Integration Development Systems (JCIDS) documents (i.e. Initial Capability Document, Capabilities Description Document, IA Strategy).
- Develop scenarios (threads) and an Operational Concepts that describes the interactions between the system, the user, and the environment, that satisfies operational, support, maintenance, and disposal needs.
- Conduct quantitative analysis in non-functional systems performance are like Reliability, Maintainability, Vulnerability, Survivability, Produce ability, etc.
Preferred:
- Experience working with desktop and server hardware and peripherals.
- Experience with scripting languages (Windows PowerShell, BASH, VMware PowerCLI etc.)
- Experience with reading/implementing STIG guidance, hardening and maintaining systems.
- Experience with installing, configuring, maintaining and using Atlassian products such as Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.
