POSITION SUMMARY:
As an integral member of the CBP End User Device IT Management Services team, the Microsoft Configuration Manager (MECM) Systems Administrator will be responsible for administration of a distributed Windows desktop environment, utilizing enterprise-scale technical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures, and internet-based devices. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with various teams providing Tier II/III support to end users through the effective use and management of the enterprise ticket management system with expedient resolution to trouble tickets, service requests, break fixes, and change requests. This role shall adhere to established procedures and approved cybersecurity practices while delivering exceptional customer support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform Tier II/III troubleshooting of escalated issues pertaining to client workstation systems.
- Provide operations and maintenance support of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager infrastructure, patching, and updates to include troubleshooting issues when they arise.
- Support common applications as well as third party applications running on Windows such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Sign for Government, BeyondTrust and Microsoft 365 Apps
- Provide customer support to clients at all levels within an organization including VIP and Senior Executive leadership.
- Configure, test and implement group policy changes in compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements as requested by customer.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current CBP Background Investigation -or- US Citizenship with ability to obtain a Federal Public Trust clearance (REQUIRED).
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems (or related field) OR 2+ years of relevant IT experience
- Certifications in A+, Security+, Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator, or MECM related are a plus.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES, and QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong understanding of Windows 10 and 11 operating systems
- Demonstrated experience with configuration of Windows desktop operating systems and management thereof with Active Directory Group Policy and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
- Knowledge of implementing/troubleshooting Browser Extensions, Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Group Policy Preferences (GPPs).
- Exposure to Cloud Endpoint Management (MS Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, etc.)
- Exposure to Applications (M365 Apps, Adobe Creative Cloud, BeyondTrust, etc.)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager Task Sequences (or similar product) for the purposes of performing Operating System Deployments (OSD) or building deployments requiring multiple steps.
- Ability to troubleshoot application installations and end user issues pertaining to usage of various desktop applications (Edge, Google Chrome, Java, Corretto, Adobe, etc.).
- Exposure to scripting/programming languages (preferably PowerShell, MS Graph API or SQL) to automate processes.
- Excellent process-oriented skills with regards to configuration management and troubleshooting within a complex enterprise environment.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across diverse audiences.
- Ability to multi-task as well as be strategic, creative, and innovative in a dynamic, fast-paced matrix team environment.
- Familiarity with manipulating Windows firewall settings using group policy a plus.
