Job Title: Principal DevOps Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Cloud Architect to join our team, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is designed for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer or Principal DevOps Engineer who has deep expertise in cloud architecture, automation, and orchestration. You will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of scalable cloud infrastructure solutions, ensuring the seamless operation of our cloud-native environments.
In this role, you will leverage your strong technical background in GCP, Kubernetes, and Terraform to lead the development of cloud infrastructure strategies, ensure high availability, and implement best practices for security, reliability, and cost-efficiency. You will also collaborate closely with development teams, providing architectural guidance and hands-on support to deploy infrastructure and services in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Lead efforts to automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Oversee the deployment, management, and orchestration of containerized applications using Kubernetes
- Work closely with development teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud services with CI/CD pipelines, driving automation and improving operational efficiencies.
- Develop and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure performance, reliability, and security across the cloud infrastructure.
- Optimize cloud resources for cost-effectiveness, performance, and scalability, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead cloud architecture reviews, provide technical expertise, and ensure infrastructure best practices are applied.
- Act as a mentor and advisor to junior team members, sharing best practices and helping build a collaborative team culture.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with security policies, and implement strong cloud security measures.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across the infrastructure, working with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve root causes.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Architecture, or related roles, with a focus on GCP.
- Proven expertise in designing and managing complex, large-scale cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong background in CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and monitoring systems.
- Experience with cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and network security.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPC, subnets, firewalls, load balancers, etc.) in a cloud environment.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go for automation tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with development, security, and operations teams to achieve seamless cloud operations.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to lead root cause analysis and complex issue resolution.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate cloud architecture decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- GCP certifications such as Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect or Google Cloud Certified - Professional DevOps Engineer.
- Experience with additional DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Familiarity with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus.
