Systems Administrator Level 2
GNI is looking for an experienced system administrator with a background in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting cross-domain systems. The successful candidate will work within a cross-functional team to provide hands-on experience designing, installing, configuring, monitoring and maintaining enterprise systems. The SA must have a team-oriented and customer-focused attitude due to multiple locations and various end users.
Primary responsibilities may include:
- Oversee the execution of security measures called out in the security plan to include timely scans of network resources and software patches and applying DISA STIG compliance controls to secure systems.
- Provide effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of production Linux Servers in a VMWare Virtualized Environment.
- Responsible for daily system monitoring, security, server health, resources and log management of Linux and Windows systems.
- Troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis. This includes troubleshooting any and all issues with hardware, system configurations, backups, files systems, and user access.
- Support the Launch & Space Vehicle (SV) telemetry receipt at the Remote Tracking Stations (RTS)
- Support mission partners in tracking data collection.
- Troubleshoot and identify command uplink to SV’s from the RTS.
- Deconflict resource scheduling and resource usage with the 22nd Space Operations Squadron.
- Troubleshoot Program Action Plan for mission partners for satellite supports that are needed.
- Communicate with stakeholders and assign a contact scoring grade of good, marginal, or fail.
- Interface with engineers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts
- Act as on-call support for network issues and data transmittal issues
- Use automation software provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment functionality.
- Create and maintain software documentation and updates
Required Experience
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. Must be able to obtain SCI within 3 months of start and maintain TS/SCI with program read in
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and two or more years of relevant experience. Can substitute 4 years of IT experience in lieu of degree
- Able to work shifts, including first, second and third shifts
- Familiar with satellite operations
- Familiar with satellite communications terminology
- Minimum 5 years’ experience focused on Linux/UNIX system administration with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Server network protocols
- DOD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification required (such as CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, or SSCP)
- Direct experience with network topology, data flows, firewalls, routers and switches
Desired Experience
- TS/SCI with SAP caveat
- Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, remote desktop, remote computer management or equivalent
- Ability to problem solve and think critically sometimes independent of significant experience or documentation of the problem area
- Strong customer communication skills
- Project management skills
