The Position
The position of System Administrator (or SysAdmin), requires the person to be responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer peripherals, systems and servers within a multi-user, multi-platform computers and network environment that support both digital voice and data. The duties are not limited to but includes ensuring that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the servers and computers adheres to and confirms current industry standards through the use of proactive process, procedures and tools for managing, installing and upgrading of computer components and software.
Duties
Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and intranet systems.
Maintain system efficiency.
Ensure design of system allows all components to work properly together.
Troubleshoot problems reported by users.
Make recommendations for future upgrades.
Maintain network and system security.
Analyze and isolate issues.
Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users.
Evaluate and modify system's performance.
Identify user needs.
Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.
Design and deploy networks.
Perform network address assignment.
Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration.
Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.
Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers.
Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, and intrusion detection systems.
Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.
Maintain and manage virtual systems to ensure optimum operational efficiency, business continuity of the enterprise applications and user access through the use of industry standard and best practice for backups, planning and monitoring
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Provides assistance or backup coverage to assigned employees or other departments as needed; performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in Information and Systems Technology, Computer Science or closely related field required; additionally possess and maintain certificate concurrency for CCNA and MCSE; and have at least 2 years' experience holding similar positions with performing similar duties and responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may include ability to perform mathematical operations with fractions; may include ability to compute discount, interest, and ratios; may include ability to calculate surface areas, volumes, weights, and measures.
Functional Reasoning: Requires ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership, and to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
ADA COMPLIANCE
Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds. Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
