Duties: Designs, installs, operates, and maintains network monitoring tools on Government provided Orion Networking Performance Monitoring 10.6.1 software (SolarWinds) to monitor, detect, diagnose, and resolve performance issues before outages occur. Tracks response time, availability, and uptime of routers, switches, and other SNMP-enabled devices. Develops network maps, dashboards, alerts, reports, and provide expert guidance on what to monitor and how during day-to-day operations and during MCSTP support exercises and events. Locates, identifies, and resolves causes for network failures and conducts pre-event testing and evaluation to optimize network performance. Prepares plans for the installation, operation, and maintenance of computer networks to support voice, video, and data networking to support day-to-day operations and during deployed events. Installs, operates, and maintains computer networks to support voice, video, and data transmission to support day-to-day operations and during deployed events. Plans, tests, deploys, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots LANs at designated event sites. Configures network equipment, software, and services to enable the event LAN to connect to the WANs. Conducts network administration and mitigates security threats to support day-to-day operations and during deployed events for Open System Interconnection (OSI) Model layer one, two and three network devices, including Cisco IOS/IOS XE/IOS XR/Unified Border Element/NexOS switches and routers using the following protocols: TCP/IP, EIGRP, Serial Line Interface Protocol, Frame Relay, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP),Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs),, Ethernet, and access control lists. Plans, engineers, and maintains tunneling technology and VPN using secure protocols including but not limited to GRE, IPsec, and SSL to secure IP communications to support end-to-end network design and security scheme. Identifies and recommends future voice, video and data networking technologies to support day-to-day operations and during deployed events. Individual must have experience with specific product lines (Cisco, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, and Tripwire), understand the RMF Assess and Authorize process and Cyber Security requirements
OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Individuals performing this requirement must have a minimum BA or BS degree in Network Management or a related field and a minimum of (8) eight years’ experience in Network Architecture design and implementation. Individual must have experience in advanced planning, troubleshooting and maintenance skills on the Microsoft server platform and Cisco router, switch and firewall configuration and SONET configuration/architecture. Individual must have a strong understanding of technology integration and information flow including LAN/WAN, firewalls, security, storage, and backup methodologies
CIVILIAN EDUCATION
An Bachelor’s degree in degree in Network Management or a related field and a minimum of (8) eight years’ experience in Network Architecture design and implementation.
SYSTEM EXPERIENCE
