Peraton is seeking a Unified Communications Lead Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position may be remote. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton’s Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) Program, for the US Coast Guard (USCG). This initiative is converged network must use the VoIP infrastructure as a baseline, leverage industry standard protocols, and be designed according to DOD Unified Capabilities (UC) requirements. The Unified Communications Lead Engineer will work with the USCG to consider convergence complete when audio and video endpoints register to the same infrastructure and use the same equipment across the network (sharing conferencing, call control, and directory infrastructure). As part of the modernization program, the Unified Communications Lead Engineer will be responsible for providing architecture and development guidance across the systems engineering lifecycle (SELC), including requirements definition, system design and documentation, implementation planning and executing, testing plans, and developing maintenance plans.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
- Work with the system engineering team and various stakeholders to elicit customer requirements and document functional and system requirements
- Define and communicate architectural guidelines for unified communications systems architecture and design
- Design unified communications solutions using industry standard design patterns and best practices to improve maintainability, flexibility, performance, security, and availability
- Designing system integration plans to include system descriptions and topology diagrams
- Writing implementation plans and briefing these plans to stakeholders and reviewers
- Developing and documenting test plans to ensure a low-risk implementation of converged unified communication systems
- Research, evaluate, and recommend tools and technologies to support an integrated unified communications environment
- Developing and documenting maintenance plans that provide operational resources the ability to monitor system performance, manage the unified communications systems, and respond to user requests
