We are looking for an experienced Unix/Linux System Administrator to support mission-critical operations for a federal client. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of Unix/Linux environments while contributing to national defense initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
- System Management:
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Unix/Linux servers using tools like APT and RPM.
- Implement, manage, and coordinate system backup, recovery, and failover processes.
- System Performance & Security:
- Monitor and document system performance, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues to support system uptime.
- Apply security patches and work with the security team to mitigate vulnerabilities, including firewall management (e.g., iptables, firewalld).
- User & Network Administration:
- Manage user accounts and group policies for seamless user access.
- Configure network interfaces, routing, and VLANs for efficient network communication.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Develop and maintain manual and automated scripts for system monitoring and process improvements.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support for users, assisting the helpdesk with incident resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system enhancements and ensure consistent availability.
Minimum Requirements:

Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance.

Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required, with no dual citizenship (per agency requirements).

Availability: Willingness to work in a 24/7/365 environment, including participation in an on-call rotation. Must be located within a commutable distance to Colorado Springs, CO, and available for on-site work.

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Experience: 7+ years of experience as a system administrator on Unix/Linux systems or related fields.

Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Unix/Linux environments, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and vulnerability management.

Automation Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automating system tasks.
