Position Summary
The Jefferson seeks a talented professional that will play a key role in supporting IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and various systems. This position involves assisting with the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of IT systems to ensure their optimal performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator will report to the Director of Technology and its primary responsibilities will include:
- Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, workstations, and other IT hardware and software, including cloud and virtual services.
- Monitor system performance and promptly address issues to ensure seamless operation of IT services.
- Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard IT systems and data.
- Perform routine system backups, uphold data integrity and security, and implement disaster recovery solutions.
- Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues.
- Support the management of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Apply system updates, patches, and security measures to protect against vulnerabilities.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Assist senior IT and operational staff on system upgrades, new technology implementations, and other IT projects.
- Maintain and troubleshoot user accounts and permissions, with appropriate access controls.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Manage cloud-based infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, networking, security services.
- Administer Office 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to resolve complex technical issues.
- Identify and execute plans to enhance operational efficiencies and process automation.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on IT tools and best practices.
Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of fundamental IT principles, demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, and exhibit a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment. Additionally, excellent customer service skills are essential, as the role includes interacting with both guests and employees effectively.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience as an Systems Administrator or similar role, preferably in a small to mid-sized organization. Additional requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience and certifications.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals, Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified are a plus.
- Knowledge of operating systems such as Windows and macOS, as well as mobile OS and networking concepts; Linux knowledge is a plus.
- Proficiency in managing cloud services (Azure) and their integration into enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with common IT tools and utilities for system monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of Office 365 environments.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is preferred.
- Basic scripting or automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) are a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and on a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work with a 24/7 on-call schedule.
