Teradata is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer experienced in supporting a 24x7 mission critical Cloud environment utilizing multiple Linux and Windows operating system platforms.
Job Title: Cloud Systems Engineer
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 4+ Months contract
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Provide day-to-day operational support of physical and virtualized server OS environments and technologies (Linux, Windows, Dell) in support of Teradata Cloud Operations.
Install and configure server hardware and OS software. This includes firmware and driver updates for all hardware components.
Prepare monthly capacity/utilization reports, vendor performance assessments based on SLA, resource utilization, and other documentation as required.
Create/update/maintain all server related documentation and diagrams of the hardware infrastructure. This includes operational run books.
Manage small to medium-sized projects or portions of large projects.
Assist in resolving issues and planning for new applications and services.
Provide Level 2 support including on-call rotation for off hours.
Manage, maintain and monitor current servers for efficiency, data recoverability and performance to identify areas of improvement
Required skills and qualifications:
• Administrator-level operating system experience with Linux.
• Practical experience with troubleshooting issues related to server platforms in a Cloud environment.
• Scripting experience (Perl, PHP, Shell and VB/PowerShell).
• Experience with Disaster Recovery, High Availability, and Site to Site Replication.
• Experience integrating Linux servers into Active Directory authentication.
• Experience with creating centralized patch and configuration management solutions.
• 8+ years of experience with Linux systems in a virtual and physical environment.
• 5+ years of experience working in a mission critical 24x7 production level environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
