We are seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer with aspirations to transition into a Cloud Architect role. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud computing with a focus on Microsoft Azure, hold relevant certifications, and possess skills in DevOps practices and security management. This role involves managing a small team and coordinating with the parent company to align standards and best practices.
Minimum Experience
- Typically, a senior Azure cloud engineer should have at least 5-7 years of experience in cloud computing, with a significant portion of that time spent working specifically with Microsoft Azure.
Domain Expertise
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of designing, deploying, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and applications on Azure.
Certifications
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert can also be important markers of expertise and experience.
Other Skills
- Experience with DevOps practices, infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or ARM templates, and a strong understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
- Manage a small team of 4-5 DevOps engineers.
- Work with parent company that provides shared services and align with standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Infrastructure Design: Design and implement cloud architecture solutions, leveraging best practices for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Deployment and Management: Oversee the deployment, management, and maintenance of cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance.
- Automation: Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Security: Implement and manage security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance with industry standards.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor cloud systems, analyze usage patterns, and optimize performance and costs.
- Collaboration: Work with development, operations, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions into the development lifecycle.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud infrastructure and services.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and best practices in cloud engineering.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cloud computing, with significant hands-on experience with Azure Cloud platform.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect are highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in cloud services and architecture.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Ansible).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and security best practices.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Mentorship and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Advanced cloud certifications.
- Experience with serverless architectures and microservices.
- Familiarity with database management and data warehousing solutions.
Salary: $125,000 - $175,000 annually
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $125,000 to $175,000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).
