DescriptionThe Cloud Data Storage Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of FortiMonitor’s cloud data storage and processing systems. The FortiMonitor system ingests monitoring and time series data at an ever increasing rate and a successful candidate will be responsible for managing and scaling the existing systems as well as enhancing them as new technologies become available.
A successful Cloud Data Storage Engineer will:
- Manage various cloud data management systems, including relational databases such as MySQL, time-series datastores such as Influx or similar systems, and in-memory data stores such as Redis.
- Interact with Kafka and other event queuing systems.
- Use containerized systems and management systems such as Kubernetes and Docker.
- Actively participate in process and system improvement activities, such as regularly scheduled releases and reviews of operational issues.
- Manage systems in multiple environments.
- Train other team members on monitoring and management of cloud data systems.
- Work with the development team leads to monitor cloud data performance and implement fixes as needed.
- Track work in ClickUp and prioritize tasks with the team and management to support company goals and objectives.
- Schedule, monitor, and test backups required to meet DR and SLA requirements.
Qualification:
- 8 years of experience in the field, with at least 3 managing cloud based data systems.
- A deep level of understanding of a variety of technologies including operating systems (e.g. Linux, other Unix versions, Windows) and system management tools (e.g. cloud APIs, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Familiarity with coding in Python, Unix shells, and other languages.
- Ability to manage various database technologies, including MySQL, other SQL databases, InfluxDB, Redis, and other related technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, and Argo CD.
- Ability to speak clearly& confidently about technology and internet concepts and interact with other technical resources.
- Technical understanding of core Internet technology (DNS, SSL/TLS, HTTP, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, etc.) and data storage technologies (relational, timeseries, key-value, document-based, etc.)
- Deep experience running Linux or Unix in real-world production environments at scale, with at least some level of experience with basic Windowsoperation and administration.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to properly prioritize operations, customer impacting issues and project tasks.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000-$185,000. Fortinet offers employees a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), 11 paid holidays, vacation time, and sick time as well as a comprehensive leave program.
Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
