AWS Cloud Administrator/Engineer
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Administrator/Engineer to join a long-term contract position in Owings Mills, MD. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS cloud architecture, cloud operations, and cloud infrastructure management. This role is onsite, and the ideal candidate should be able to work full-time from the client’s office in Owings Mills, MD.
Key Responsibilities:
- AWS Cloud Management: Administer and manage the AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2 instances, S3 buckets, VPCs, IAM roles, and cloud security policies.
- Cloud Deployment & Automation: Deploy and manage cloud resources using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS Elastic Beanstalk for infrastructure-as-code automation.
- Monitoring & Optimization: Implement monitoring using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and other monitoring tools to ensure the performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of the cloud environment.
- Security & Compliance: Manage security groups, VPC security, and implement AWS best practices for securing cloud resources, including encryption, IAM policies, and compliance regulations.
- Cost Management: Monitor and manage AWS costs and usage, optimizing for efficiency and cost savings.
- Disaster Recovery & Backup: Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for critical applications and data in AWS.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure the smooth deployment and operation of AWS resources.
- Support: Provide ongoing support for cloud infrastructure, troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues, and manage incident response.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain documentation related to cloud infrastructure, processes, and best practices. Provide reports on cloud resource utilization and recommendations for improvements.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working with AWS cloud services, managing and deploying cloud-based solutions.
- Strong experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
- Experience with cloud security, including configuring IAM roles, security groups, and implementing best practices for securing AWS environments.
- Familiarity with AWS cost management tools and best practices for cost optimization.
- Strong scripting skills using Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar languages for automation and cloud resource management.
- Experience with AWS monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config.
- Understanding of disaster recovery and backup strategies in a cloud environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
- AWS Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator are highly preferred.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Ansible for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience with AWS GovCloud, AWS security best practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with Hybrid Cloud solutions and working in multi-cloud environments.
