Purpose of Job:
Engineer capable of leading and supporting engineering, maintenance and utilities reliability projects in the manufacture of liquid solution Medical Device and Pharma products.
Key Activities:
Equipment Reliability and Optimization
- Analyze equipment performance to identify potential failure points and inefficiencies.
- Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce unscheduled downtime.
- Utilize reliability tools such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) to enhance asset performance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for critical equipment and systems.
Maintenance Strategy Development
- Establish and refine maintenance schedules to balance preventive maintenance and operational needs.
- Optimize spare parts inventory management to ensure critical parts are available without overstocking.
- Work with maintenance teams to ensure best practices are followed and implement condition-based monitoring techniques.
- Provide guidance and technical expertise to maintenance staff on complex mechanical and electrical systems.
Utilities Management
- Ensure the reliability of critical utility systems, such as HVAC, boilers, steam systems, water treatment, and compressed air, which support manufacturing and cleanroom operations (e.g. N+1).
- Monitor utility performance and implement strategies to improve energy efficiency and system reliability.
Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure that all maintenance and engineering activities are performed in accordance with GMP, FDA, and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation for maintenance procedures, work orders, and equipment history.
- Support audits and inspections by providing maintenance records and reliability data.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and reliability activities.
Risk Management and Reliability Assessments
- Conduct risk assessments on critical systems and processes to identify potential reliability issues.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent equipment failures and ensure product quality and patient safety.
- Participate in the design review process for new equipment or system modifications to ensure reliability is built into the design.
Continuous Improvement and Training
- Drive continuous improvement efforts across maintenance and utilities to increase equipment uptime and reduce operational costs.
- Train engineering and maintenance teams on reliability best practices and new maintenance technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as manufacturing, quality, and validation, to support operational excellence initiatives.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Collect and analyze data from maintenance systems (e.g., CMMS) and equipment sensors to track performance and identify trends.
- Generate reliability reports and KPIs (e.g., Mean Time Between Failures - MTBF, Mean Time to Repair - MTTR) to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
- Use data to recommend and implement reliability improvements across equipment, utilities, and processes.
Qualifications:
ISO-9000, GMP, medical device manufacturing experience a plus.
Education: BS/MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or similar Engineering discipline required
Experience: prefer 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing process, automation, and equipment with experience in continuous improvement and reliability. Knowledge of medical product manufacturing practices a plus. Project management experience beneficial.
