Company Overview
CCG is a technology company focused on equipping customers with the capabilities and support to conduct intelligent and successful cyber operations. We do this by finding the most talented engineers and operators in the country, give them some of the most challenging problems facing the US government, and help them unleash their creativity and problem-solving skills. Excellence is our standard and mission success is our metric.
Role
We are seeking a skilled and cleared SRE to design, instantiate, and configure physical computer systems in classified government environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining hardware solutions, ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure for mission-critical, classified operations. This role requires a deep understanding of both hardware architecture and the automation processes associated with configuring hardware systems via IaC methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect secure solutions for classified government systems, including servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.
- Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Terraform) to automate the deployment, configuration, and management of physical infrastructure.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders to gather requirements, assess mission needs, and create customized hardware infrastructure solutions tailored for secure environments.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and security standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, DISA STIGs) throughout the hardware design, configuration, and deployment process.
- Automate hardware provisioning processes, from firmware installation to network configuration, using IaC to create repeatable, scalable, and secure infrastructure.
- Integrate hardware infrastructure into hybrid environments, including private clouds and classified on-premises data centers.
- Optimize hardware performance by configuring and fine-tuning system resources such as CPU, memory, and storage based on mission-critical workloads and operational requirements.
- Perform continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware infrastructure in classified environments, ensuring maximum uptime and security.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for hardware infrastructure designs, IaC scripts, and configuration processes, ensuring proper security protocols are followed.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and ensure all hardware infrastructure is hardened and in compliance with classified data handling procedures.
- Plan and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies for physical infrastructure within secure government environments.
- Stay updated on emerging hardware technologies and trends in Infrastructure as Code, ensuring the classified environment remains on the cutting edge of both security and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (note, only US Citizens are eligible for security clearances)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline. Degree requirement can be met with four years of hands on experience in a software engineer or similar full time position
- 5+ years of experience in designing and managing physical hardware infrastructure, with specific experience in classified government environments.
- Experience with bare-metal provisioning, including PXE boot, BIOS/UEFI configuration, and hardware lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, or similar, particularly in automating hardware configuration.
- Deep understanding of computer hardware systems, including servers, storage arrays, networking equipment, and their integration into secure classified environments.
- Strong knowledge of government security frameworks (NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, DISA STIGs) and how to apply them to hardware infrastructure design and configuration.
- Experience with hardware provisioning automation, including firmware updates, OS installations, and network configuration.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in identifying and resolving hardware issues within secure environments, with a focus on minimizing downtime.
- Familiarity with network architecture, security protocols, and system hardening techniques for classified operations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with security teams, developers, and government stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current US SCI eligibility and CI poly
- Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent.
- Knowledge of hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) andsoftware-defined data center (SDDC) technologies.
- Experience communicating with customers and end-users
Working Environment:
- On-site work at government facilities or classified secure locations 3+ days a week.
- Collaborative, high-stakes environment with cross-functional teams focused on delivering secure, reliable infrastructure solutions to government missions.
