BAE Systems in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support the Integrated Survivability Solutions (ISS) product line, in the Countermeasures & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions business area. As an industry leader in EO/IR and RF technologies, ISS is dedicated to advancing multi-platform detection, tracking and defeat of incoming threats to support aircraft, ground vehicle and maritime survivability.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and update modeling and simulation and algorithms for detection solutions to include the 2-Color Advanced Warning System (2CAWS) and the AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) products.
- Design, develop, and test complex software and tools for EO/IR technologies.
- Evaluate complex designs to identify design flaws.
- Use existing processes and evolve processes to utilize the most effective new techniques as they become available, assuring the use of methodologies which minimize both design cost and product cost.
- Participate in external project interactions with customers and other companies.
- Collaborate with Software and Systems engineers in one or more phases of the program including: Project Planning, Requirements Development, Design, Development, Integration and Test

- Must possess an Active Secret Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM field with 10+ years related experience
- Experience in requirements analysis, integration, and test
- Experience with System modeling
- Experience with algorithm modeling and simulation and data analysis
- Software development experience in a Linux environment
- Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools
- Demonstrated ability to develop, lead, and motivate technical teams
- Experience working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), capturing knowledge in written form, and effectively transfer this knowledge to software engineering teams
- Strong technical leadership skills including excellent people skills, the ability to mentor, drive consensus, identify and track tasks, and drive closure
- Experience with modeling and simulation
- Experience with algorithm development, including Machine Learning usage
- Experience with Real-time Embedded Software Development
- Experience with Agile Development and DevSecOps
- Experience developing Linux and Windows Operating Systems
- Experience or willingness to code in Python and C++
- Experience using software tools like Jira, Confluence BitBucket, Gitlab
- Experience with MBSE including MagicDraw
- Software automated test development and execution
- Strong communication skills
