SUMMARY
The IT Engineer II is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the Core Networking and Security of our data center, working in collaboration with our IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) provider, to ensure Arete operates with the highest levels of performance and security. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, security, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and adherence to our standards. The IT Engineer II is responsible for collaborating with Arete’s Incident Response (IR) service delivery teams to optimize and transform how our professional services teams leverage our infrastructure and services to execute their response, investigations and analysis.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, deploy and manage core network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and load balancers
- Develop and enforce security practices in alignment to Aretes Information Technology (IT) Policies to protect the organizations data and resources
- Develop and maintain rigorous Privileged Access Management practices to ensure appropriate access levels across the user based and make changes as needed
- Maintain and optimize critical Microsoft services; Active Directory (AD), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes and security protocols and operational procedures
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements and Arete’s change management practices for all changes to configuration and operational procedures
- Implement and maintain ongoing operational practices to ensure proactive monitoring and performance reviews are conducted to identify and address potential issues, optimize network traffic and security
- Work closely with the services teams to implement scalable network solutions that support the organizations growth and evolving technology needs
- On-call availability required to address critical incidents and off hour support for change management
- Provide tier 2 and tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution including but not limited to connectivity problems, hardware or software malfunctions and security incident
- Collaborate with Aretes IaaS provider to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure seamless operation across the infrastructure
- May perform other duties as assigned by management
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Proficient in configurating and managing network devices, next generation firewalls and Virtual Private Network (VPN) concentrators
- Demonstrates an understanding of full stack security as it translates from on-premises to cloud
- Proficiency with Cloudflare, Cisco Umbrella virtual appliances and Duo proxy for authentication health
- Demonstrate a move fast mindset as business circumstances change, by quickly orchestrating changes and actively steering the process to a positive outcome
- Ability to successfully implement deadline driven projects, ability to plan and execute small-medium size projects independently or when leading a small team
- Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
- Excellent understanding of current computer systems, security, and infrastructure
- Excellent priority management and problem-solving skills
- Strong personal organization and time management skills
- Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of experience networking engineering and security roles
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Relevant certification (CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, CompTIA security + are highly desirable
- Relevant experience in Core networking infrastructure and technologies including WAN, VLAN and subnet management, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs
- Background in Hypervisor services and virtualization

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with Arete salary and benefit policy.
FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY
Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
