Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Services, the Senior Network Security Analyst supports the security of the network infrastructure utilizing a variety of hardware. These systems are currently made up of Cisco, Alcatel and possibly Palo Alto, Fortinet or SDN based firewall from Versa Networks. Responsibilities also include supporting the University’s virtual private networks currently using Pulse and Juniper systems; configuring and supporting the security apparatus for Azure and AWS ; and assisting clients with writing, reviewing, and pushing firewall rules. The analyst will also take part in projects, on premise or cloud, requiring application security.
Essential Functions
Regular Upgrades Reviews security advisories Addresses zero day threats Researches version compatibility Upgrades all firewalls( production, QA and PCI ) systems Supports change requests Cleans up firewall ruleset Supports the configuration of rules associated with Azure and AWS Regularly upgrades the VPN to keep in accordance with security advisories Network Maintenance Monitors and analyzes data to improve system performance Monitors network usage and security issues. Deploys patches to mitigate any threat to systems Responds to issues affecting the network architecture Supports ticket resolution associated to the network architecture Supports work and tickets associated to the operation of the firewall Supervises student workers Analyses Makes use of SUMO logic to analyze captured data from disparate network systems Supports security team with data from firewall and network equipment Uses measuring and diagnostic tools to test and adjust networking equipment Supports capacity planning Utilizes data to modify and support modifications to the network Technology Manages: Cisco ASA and Firepower Pulse VPN and similar Securing VoIP and other realtime applications SDN based security IoT based security
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of technical, business and cultural environment of higher education in general and Fordham in particular Demonstrated expertise in: Supporting complex systems architectures, specifications and applications Resource acquisition and management Execution of project plans and delivery of results Analytical/problem solving and technical skills Customer service Ability to interact professionally with staff, faculty and students Work experience and validated training with IT certification will be considered.
