Position Summary
Designs, develops, modifies, configures, debugs and evaluates SAP Business Object Enterprise application like WeBI, AO, BODS. Analyzes existing applications and systems and formulates logic for new systems, devises logic procedures, logical database design, performs licensing audits. Consults with business analysts and architects to understand, anticipate, and meet current and future business needs for SAP BOBJ, defines migration path to SAC. Research production problems and/or enhancement issues and make appropriate code changes to the system. Initiate action and evaluate issues to develop alternative solutions. Apply expert knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Key member of the SAP BW Support team responsible for the technical design and coding. Supports SAP modules by implementing, solving break/fix issues, and by providing design and development of RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms and Workflows). Collaborate with other teams such as Business Analysts, Functional, Basis and Security Teams.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $129,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $207,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as key technical resource with areas of specialization in BOBJ administration as well
- Administer BOE (application configuration, health checks, installation, upgrades, functional testing, troubleshooting, business continuity, password cycling).
- Anticipate and manage BOE projects resulting from systemic projects. Create and maintain technical documentation (SOPs).
- Provide metadata reports to assist users in maintaining documents and schedules. Liaise with vendor as necessary for support, documentation, guidance, and troubleshooting.
- Perform analysis and design; write technical specifications; configuration and programming. Extensive knowledge in Web Intelligence 4.3 to create templates and modeling. Identification and activation of Business Data into defined data model/universe. Design and develop complex BO Universes using IDT.
- Maintain user logins (licenses, transfers, user terminations). Guide users as the users create, modify, and schedule the BOE documents. Recapture licenses for reusability.
- Good understanding on Networks, firewall exception and COE different applications finetuning server memory distribution for different variants of BOE processes.
- Expert knowledge of Red hat Enterprise Linux v7 or higher, Windows Operating Systems Administrative knowledge, SAN/NAS, and Cloud Infrastructure and Services.
- Integrate BOE and SAC environments with various data sources such as MongoDB, Oracle 19c or higher, SharePoint Online, ServiceNow, Databricks, SQL Server, Greenplum DB v6, PostgreSQL; OLTP, OLAP.
- Research production performance issues of reports and/or enhancement issues and apply best practices. Initiate action and evaluate issues to develop alternative solutions. Apply expert knowledge and experience to resolve problems.
- Key member of the SAP BW BOBJ Support team responsible for the technical design and future upgrade roadmap. Supports SAP module & cross modules reporting by implementing, solving break/fix issues, and by providing design and development of RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms and Workflows).
- Excellent working knowledge of BI Platform installation, configuration, and best practices of testing lifecycle. Must be able to effectively troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and other related issues from an administrator and developer point of view.
- Assists in resolving production support reporting and connectivity problems. Develops and suggests alternative approaches to resolving reporting performance issues. Conducts quality assurance activities such as peer reviews. Good knowledge of SAP releases and patches, including applying SAP BOBJ OSS notes
- Must very well versed with Audit log and provide dynamic reporting on top of Audit Log for Management requests.
- Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified roles testing & report interface migration. Identifies issues as appropriate in network and domain naming related.
- Create and enhance Business Objects reports to support dynamic business value needs. Participating in agile team ceremonies supporting the development and maintenance of application reporting.
- Support application performance as relates to reporting statistics and memory utilization. Present information through reports and visualization. Work with stakeholders to understand application needs. Improve performance and extend report functionality.

- Investigate all reported problems/errors & initiate amendments & testing so that the system can operate correctly & efficiently. Map upgrades path and testing plan beyond

Solid understanding of the impact to all application areas of systems/sub- systems modifications and enhancements; understands impact to business; has broad, over-arching understanding of impact to IT. - Internal/External Contact: Regularly represents team and/or manager at client meetings. Collaborates with Project Manager on complex large project timelines, identifying critical path, resource assignments, risks, and dependencies.
- Problem Solving: Resolves application development problems of complex scope through cross-functional team participation.
Preferred Candidates have:
- Experience installing and configuring Data Services 4.x, Information Steward 4.x, and Data Quality Manager 4.x
- Experience with client tools such as Design Studio, Analysis for Office, and BI Platform Client Tools
- Current BI Platform 4.x certification or earlier Keywords: Business Objects, XIR2, XI31, BI42, BI4x, architecture, administration, SBOP, BIP, BOBJ, Webi, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Crystal Enterprise, Data Services, Data Integrator, InfoSteward, BI Platform
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree & equivalent experience
- 7 years’ experience in SAP BOBJ Administration
- Experience in programming language, advanced
