Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, performs complex and diverse duties in support of a work area or group of individuals. Provides administrative support for multiple programs and projects. Anticipates and initiates actions regarding office operations which require knowledge of the Institute and other departments. May function as a high-level individual contributor or coordinator of multiple projects.
Essential Functions
Work may affect multiple units. Follows departmental procedures and recommends changes to work-area processes. Work is reviewed at key stages by supervisor, manager, or faculty member(s). Accountable for the end product of own work as well as work of others; however, is not responsible for performance of others. Exercises confidentiality of classified information based on security procedures.
Physical Demands
Requires the ability to perform the normal hand-wrist movement entailed with computer work. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally, and bend, kneel, stoop and reach as needed for routine office work. Ability to be mobile campus wide for various business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
A BS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent, is required, Strong experience and detailed technical knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, Must have 4+ years of security experience with multiple operating systems, including Windows and UNIX /Linux, with emphasis in security implementation, best practices, monitoring, and incident response, Strong technical knowledge in multiple domains of information security including cloud security fundamentals, access control systems, network and Internet security, and legal and regulatory compliance, Experience with the application of threat modeling or other risk identification techniques, Detailed knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP /IP, UDP , IPSEC , HTTP , HTTPS , routing protocols), Experience with implementation of multi-factor authentication is a plus, Experience setting up and operating tools to automate analysis and evaluation of log data. Experience with Splunk or other automated tools a plus, Experience with Fortinet Firewalls a plus, This position requires high organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong ability to produce technical documentation, This position works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, Strong project management skills, Must have excellent customer support skills and written and oral communications skills Must have a demonstrated history of documenting and defending designs to peers and management Must be able to explain risks and benefits of different design alternatives to peers, customers, and management Must have a demonstrated ability to maintain trust and adhere to the highest ethical standards while interacting with others in a courteous manner, exercising integrity, discretion, and tact. Must have a demonstrated track record in the diagnosis and solution of complex issues, often under tight time constraints, and mentoring others to do the same Must be able to work with and influence people at multiple levels within a major university, Must be able to work independently and within a team oriented environment.
